Where does Vivaldi get the tab color from? Meta? Css?
-
Hello to all, I have seen, that on many websites the tab color changes to the brand color of the website. You can see that on Facebook, Twitter, Gamestar and many others. Google has multiple tab colors for different areas. I know how it works for mobile browsers and I have a working example: http://www.logopaedie-nentershausen.de But for some reason Vivaldi tries to get the color by itself and the color is wrong. I found this example at a GoogleDevelopers page, but this works only on my mobile phone and only in the live environment. On my local development environment it doesn't work. Vivaldi seems to ignore it completely:
<meta name="theme-color" content="#89D24F"> <meta name="msapplication-navbutton-color" content="#89D24F"> <meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-capable" content="yes"> <meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-status-bar-style" content="black-translucent">
Is there some other way to tell the browser the tab color? Some CSS maybe?

I found out, that the most common color in the favicon is used for the tile color.
I think this should be the secondary way to get the tab color. The first way should be the meta tag theme-color. I will inform the developers about that.

@Gwen-Dragon:
Works in Vivaldi 1.3 Snapshot!
But not for all themes, as some override it :whistle:
e.g. Subtle and Hot Pink -
Where can I get the 1.3 version?
I can only find 1.2 for Win and Mac.

Found it. Thanks

There are still maybe some bugs with this theme-color.
The code #AD0D1D for example, doesn't work as you can see here: http://tfd2.mysoldier.de
