Clearly there are both advantages and disadvantages to both online and in-store shopping. And just as clearly ( it seems to me ), we all have our different values and priorities ( and circumstances ).
I remember growing up ( if indeed I ever did ) and going with my mother to a dozen different "stores" just to buy groceries for one day. No supermarkets and no refrigerator. Things have changed a bit since then.
Despite the flaws and perils of "big business" Some of us find shopping online with Amazon extremely convenient ( over 1,800 orders spread over 28 years, starting with books, then music CDs, and now pretty much everything ).
I live near an Amazon distribution center, and pay for Amazon Prime, so that packages are usually delivered overnight or the next day, and by Amazon's own delivery service which brings the packages to my doorstep ( compared with UPS and Fedex and USPS which deliver to a locker some 1,100 feet away ).
Why does that matter so much to me? Try being old, and living alone in a third-story walk-up. Carrying heavy packages from the car to my apartment is a major challenge. And it won't be long before I won't be able to drive at all, at least not safely. And forget mass transit, we don't have any.
So yes, I buy most of my groceries and household needs online. There are only a few items ( mostly perishable and preferred brands not available on Amazon ) for which I make the trek to the grocery store.
And yes, there are occasional problems to deal with. For me, overall, it is worth it.
If I were young or had financial issues, then it would be a different matter.
