@lukeff I can confirm the cut badge.
All extensions having more than 2 chars in a badge are cut.
Please report to bug tracker and leave VB-xxxx number here, so i can confirm internally easier.
Thank you for reaching out and sorry for the trouble.
May be this issue is a bug.
Please read How to report a bug for Vivaldi carefully and report the bug to Vivaldi bugtracker.
Again thank you for using Vivaldi.
@geardoc47 You should take this issue up with the creator of the extension.
Ed: Just to test, I installed the extension in a clean 4.0 profile and messed around with the settings. Closed Vivaldi, started again and the settings were still saved.
@durhammer Bitwarden is great. It is what I recommend for people who need to sync between devices particular apple stuff. It's much better than Keepass for that. It is weaker for working with local programs. I need to login to a number of local programs, not browser, not internet. Keepass is better for that. For linux, I recommend keepassxc as has already been mentioned.
@rubens94 said in OceanHero extension not working:
Anyway, I use Vivaldi's ad-block so I'd like to add these search engines to my whitelist, to do so I just have to add the home page right? I mean, if I only add the home page it won't block ads on the results page either?
I forgot about the ad-blocker. To answer your question: I think so. To test it, search for "toys". And if the ad-blocker is off, you should see something like this:
2021-06-16 11.19.48 oceanhero.today 92f823420282.png
You won't have to do that for every search-engine. I think Startpage, Ecosia, Bing, and DuckDuckGo are allowed to show ads by default (because of the "Allow ads from our partners (support Vivaldi)" ad-blocking source).
I mean, if I see the ads but do not click on them they don't earn anything?
Good question, I don't know.
@eggcorn If you're tech-savvy, enough, you could install a custom CSS page action like this:
You might be able to find a bookmarklet online.
But things like this could possibly wreck the webpage design.
For some reason, this problem is fixed in both Vivaldi and Chrome. The extension has not been updated since January, and I have not updated Vivaldi/Chrome since I posted this, so, I am guessing that maybe this problem could have been fixed by some sort of change to the "https://translate.googleapis.com" server that the extension is requesting.
@jon said in Alternative to MS Edge Collections for Vivaldi.:
Building another concept that competes with Notes makes less sense.
No, not compete with notes, organize notes/bookmarks/tasks.
I certainly prefer V Notes to Edge Collections but there are some things that you could learn from Edge.
Some more info from the developers of Tab for a Cause:
"Our extension needs browsers to allow setting a web page as the new tab page—and we also need the browser to highlight/clear the URL. (For security purposes, browsers typically don't give extensions control over highlighting/clearing the URL.)
In the past, Chrome didn't reliably highlight the URL for a new tab page redirect, but they've since fixed this behavior. Here is the ticket I filed to to Chromium a while back:
It looks like we'd need Vivaldi to make the same behavior change.
You're also right to note that the URL bar used to be empty in Chrome, and it still is for Firefox users. Technically, our extension used to embed the web page within the new tab page (using an iframe, if you're familiar with HTML). However, the latest policy for Chrome and Firefox extensions prevents using iframes, which required the change in behavior.
In fact, Firefox does not support new tab page redirects at this point (background info here), but the add-on continues to work for people who had already installed it."
@nomadic Thanks very much nomadic for your very complete reply. The other problem I'm having is not an extension but a website.
