Both of my desktops have the same two models of mice connected.
The first mouse is a generic Optical 6D Gaming Mouse (wireless and optical) purchased from Amazon, which includes a separate charging dock to recharge the batteries (two AAA NiMH). The charging dock itself has USB ports built in to connect other USB peripherals, such as a keyboard. As the charging dock is not independently powered, it's always plugged into a powered USB hub for battery recharging.

The other mouse is an Inland (also wireless and optical), they were purchased from Micro Center in the U.S., a good 20 years ago and both still work perfectly to this day. This mouse also uses two AAA NiMH batteries, but its charging dock is powered via an AC adapter.
