@z4ck The dialog still needs some work.
The request for a Search Field on the Add Bookmark Dialog was done, but the old method of searching the tree by typing no longer works.
I wonder if we could have both.
I use a shortcut for this, and it makes it easier than a toggle for me. Just changed the shortcut to be Ctrl+B instead of the original Ctrl+Shift+B. I also like to hide the status bar with Ctrl+S, the panel with F4, and the address bar with Ctrl+Q. Reader view is Ctrl+R.
By the way, manipulating a bookmark (elsewhere, than in the folder) : automatically closes the folder.
(disappearing delay : a few seconds, 2-3)
It doesn't stay open ... If you wan't to see the result, and re-manipulate; or, changed your mind ?
(I have a short-term memory problem due to an accident)
An option ?
0 >X sec disappearing delay ?
In earlier Firefox versions (ending with v56.0.2) there was an add-on called "Go Parent Folder." This did exactly what you're requesting and I personally would like to see as well...
The user would click in the search bar of the bookmarks side panel, type the bookmark name and locate one of the search results that would popup. From there you could right click on one and see a context menu with several items one of which would be "Go Parent Folder."
This would open up the main folder expand the sub-folders below it to show the specific location of the bookmark.
Unfortuantely FF did drop this add-on after they overhauled their browser and to my knowledge never brought it back. I would love to see Vivaldi incorporate this as a native feature since it would offer immeasurable value to the end user...
Wow. I am currently desparately trying to organize my bookmarks. It is really necessary. And I thought, Vivaldi could surely help me with that. Tags are central for this. I cannot organize my bookmarks without them.
[Options located in addon]
Predefined interface volume (L, M, S, XS)
expanding folder on a click
Side button to easily move bookmarks and folders
Backlight of the bookmark or folder after hovering (color setting)
Hint settings after hovering on the tab (Title and URL, only Title, only URL and hint size)
Size settings for font and icon
Another indentation size after expanding the folder
Scroll strap width
interval between tabs
[not in addon]
Another color subdirectory
A more compact upper beam (the ability to turn off +, -, folder, disable the tab inscription and sort list)
@moosmas I never use the Bookmark Page, but I agree it needs to be redesigned.
Try the Bookmark Panel instead. There is adequate space to edit the description in the information pane at the bottom. The Bookmark Panel can also be made a lot wider than it is in my screenshot, but that is enough for my needs.

Okay, thanks, that works and is useable.
Still think the bookmark option should be added too for easier access and organisation. I'd set it always on because no harm done if set while at the top of the page.
@exzentrik said in Option for Bookmarks Bar Folder to Stay Open after Opening a Bookmark:
Bookmark bar enhancement: When opening a bookmark in a bookmark folder, the bookmark folder is getting closed. Would be great if it would stay open, so it would be possible to open more bookmarks at once.
Just use Middle Mouse Click, works for me!
