Vivaldi launches its first beta
-
With all respect (btw. congrats as well! ). What about the bug:
Summary: whole UI freeze
Key: VB-10356I really do not understand how this 2-3 builds old major regression could make it into beta since reported and confirmed by many ppl hereโฆ It's driving me crazy as this bug keep occurring X times per hour...
(I'm glad that this will be fixed for me - snapshot user - soon but beta users will not be happy I guess) -
Most annoying thing Vivaldi:
Try to select part of the url by clicking it and the whole url is selected. And the annoying part: When you click there's http:// to be added in the front. Result is that you need to move mouse again to find the correct place AGAIN.Small thing but please keep the url at the same place (or add option to show/hide http(s):// permanently.
Otherwise:
Thanks!
RIP Opera 12 -
I just checked - I started using Vivaldi with 1.0.083 on 29 January. By the end of February I had replaced Opera 12.17 with Vivaldi as my all day browser. Thanks to all of you Developers and everyone else who have participated in the Alpha testing. There are still bugs, but hey, I have been a beta tester on occasion since the 1980s. Lots of fun.

They force you to use that walking security nightmare named Java? Switch the bank. Really. They don't give a **** about security.
-
The beta is an improvement in CPU usage, but it still doesn't compete with Chrome. More CPU optimization please!!
-
Yay! It's the first Beta! Nice work!
Unfortunately for me there's a glitch somewhere in flag change/relaunch routine.
Issue Collector created VB-10458
After changing one or more flags and clicking the Relaunch button, Vivaldi closes and then opens two linked but separate instances. Both instances track one another so whatever is done in one is updated in the other window.
Closing one instance closes the other instance.
Everything is fine after closing and restarting Vivaldi.[http://s953.photobucket.com/user/3Phase_2009/media/Misc/Vivaldi/FlagCrsh_zpsjijig4jp.png.html](http://s953.photobucket.com/user/3Phase_2009/media/Misc/Vivaldi/FlagCrsh_zpsjijig4jp.png.html[url]

You don't use Java applets anymore. That's the thing. Chromium actually dropped support for java <applet>'s shortly after dropping support for NPAPI.
Contact your bank and inform them that they're not using secure technologies if they really require Java.</applet>

Both the pocket extension and site does not work. The browser does not allow me to log in to the site.
-
It seems that in the Beta you cannot drag tabs into the bookmarks bar any more. (Win x64)

Congratulations on achieving this important milestone! I'm currently using Vivaldi as my default browser on my home machine, as well as my 'fun' browser on my work laptop, and am just loving it to pieces! So many lovely little touches, and the prospect of many more to come.
I can't wait to finally be using Version 1.0, whenever that will finally release. Long Live Vivaldi!
-
Eh. I can live without it. I sync passwords with LastPass, and I just import bookmarks from Firefox/Chrome.
-
@ vivaldi team: just wanted to let you know that issue VB-9651 was fixed as a side effect in one of the many recent snapshots - so it can be closed for now.
-
Yes!!! It's finally here! And it's awesome! Another milestone reached in the development of Vivaldi!
I don't see a 64-bit version available. Also, I noticed the Chromium version on the Beta is 45. When are you guys going to adopt version 46?
-
Thanks for the Update Beta on Vivaldi, but i have a bug on the Bookmark barโฆ pls. look the Screenshot. http://www.directupload.net/file/d/4160/8snsabjo_png.htm

Working on it
-
Congratulations for the release of this Beta!
Your work so far has been amazing!Looking forward to seeing the next steps in terms of features of course, but now also in terms of polish and optimizations. Keep up the good work!
-
Yes, more speed, it's a bit sluggish on my system and ABP extension on some sites don't work properly it brings me ads in separate tabs.
-
Opera uses native elements to create their browser window. Vivaldi does not.

Thanks Olli!
