Trying to keep Bookmark in Sync with another Machine.
-
Hello, i'm trying to keep Vivaldi's bookmark's in Sync with another Machine.
I tried creating a Symbolic Link on User Data\Default\Bookmarks file into Dropbox, but it doesn't seem to work.
Is there a way I can completely move the Bookmark's file elsewhere without a Symbolic Link?

@Spiderkeys The easy way is export as HTML and import on the other machine.

Are you moving the original bookmarks file into your dropbox folder, then placing symlinks
in *User Data\Default* on both machines?
Don't use dropbox so can't test but whatever you try, backup your Bookmarks file. -
What I was trying to achieve what like set them up then forget, importing back and forth an HTML file is the simplest and requires to most work, as I use two machines simulously, I would have keep remembering and doing it back and forth 100 times a day.
Dropbox is a cloud service, you can share files, and keep whatever is in there updated any direction.
Anyway I was once used to Firefox sync, I can't go back to old fashion way of exporting and importing HTML files.

@Spiderkeys
I'm aware what dropbox is but it's not installed to test.
Switched some time ago to megasync as it allows 50gb free.I was wondering if you were using symlinks correctly but
testing with my sync client the actual ...\Default\Bookmarks file is replaced
when you save a bookmark thus breaking the symlink and sync.Could look at using Google bookmarks or Xmarks until Vivaldi gets sync.

Looks like I got no choice and have to try this again, I was using Xmarks earlier this week, and idk what happened but it completely messed up All my Firefox bookmarks by endless duplicates. worse still my Firefox sync service was still switched on, as I was unsure if I should disable it or nor, so it naturally screwed up the server there too by xmark's mess, I ended having to manually restore a my entire firefox profile completely from another machine without xmarks and offline of course before firefox sync gets into action and destroys those bookmarks too.

There are 2 extensions I know that are supposed to sync BMs - Xmark and FVD. Both of them work but very inconsistently and poorly. It's bad enough where I would not recommend either of them. However, there is workaround that might be acceptable as a temporary fix until Vivaldi team wakes up and finishes their own sync. FVD is also a start/new tab replacement. And whatever shortcuts you put on FVD's new tab sync just fine. So you can propagate the bulk of your BMs by whatever means you prefer, and then for day to day add new BMs to FVD start page which will propagate it among your machines.
