Vivaldi (from 1.6) crashes when using Slack
-
Slack is heavy on resources and all, but I've been running it for several months on Vivaldi without problems. Ever since the release of Vivaldi 1.6 the browser simply "disappears". No error message or anything. What I find especially surprising is that there is no WER dialog or an entry in the event log either. So I cannot do anything but report the symptom.
To me this sounds very similar to https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/12953/vivaldi-crashes-when-i-get-a-message-at-facebook/ ... in fact it seems to happen whenever I am inside a VMware guest running in full screen on the screen with the task bar, where the notification popup from Slack would usually appear.
I am running on Windows 7 x64, fully patched and with 32 GB of RAM. If there is anything one can do to turn on some kind of logging, let me know.

btw, using this one:
Vivaldi 1.6.689.40 (Stable channel) (32-bit)

So https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/12954/v1-6-689-34-stable-channel-32bit-crash-due-to-html5-popup-message-window is another instance of the issue.
I filed a bug report on the vivaldi.com website. Let's see about any responses.

Just as an update. This got resolved for me with the 1.8 release of Vivaldi.
Never got a response to the bug report, though.
