Everything got bigger after the update to 1.5
-
I have updated to 1.5 today and suddenly everything is displayed much larger. I am on zoom 100%, also on the Appearance settings. Because of this bahaviour, some pages do not fit into the screen, especially when the sidebar is open.
Does anyone know why this happened, and more importantly – how to fix this?
Thank you!

@RRR13
I believe so, I downloaded directly via Help->Check for updates. -
@diahron
Tried it, didn't help -
This "bug" was introduced several snapshots ago. The question is will it be fixed...
-
Problems related to size (DPI settings) and blurred fonts - several "workarounds" were found depending on system specifics.
Have a read through https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/11603/blurry-ui-fonts-after-reboot

I had the same problem, everything got bigger after the update and I can't seem to get it to stay at 100%, every web site goes to 115%. I tried "reset" but it does nothing. I downloaded the update from Vivaldi.
How to fix this? -
It is not a permanent fix, but it seems that 80% of zoom is the equivalent of 100% before the update. Until it is fixed, you might want to go to settings and change it. Go to Webpages settings, and change default zoom from 100% to 80%. You can also do this for the interface in appearance settings, changing the user interface zoom from 100% to 80%. The only problem is that it seems these settings don't affect web panels, but for everything else this should work.
Regarding the reason, it probably is a problem with Chromium, as I noticed the same problem with Google Chrome about a month ago (but don't trust me completely on this, as I'm no expert).

You don't have to struggle anymore waiting for it to be implemented natively, which will come later for sure. -
@HarryH No the point was that it was broken before, we did not respect the system-wide DPI settings in all cases and you got used to Vivaldi looking too small. Now we do respect the settings and you are seeing it as it is supposed to be.
However, if you want Vivaldi smaller again (while all other applications that respect system wide DPI are bigger) you could use our UI scaling to make Vivaldi smaller again.
Alternatively if you want we could add a setting that ignores system wide UI scaling. It will obviously be off by default as most people want and expect their applications to scale with the OS but we could add it for those of you who want something different.

Thanks for the clarification.

Yes! Please add this setting! Firefox has this in about:config.

I'm also experiencing some weird scaling in 1.5.658.44 on Windows 10 Pro:
I have two monitors as an extended display, one at 3840x2160, the other 1920x1200, with Vivaldi sitting on the latter. The 4K monitor is scaled to 200%, while the one with Vivaldi is 100%. Tooltips & menus are all rendered in the 200% scaling, despite being on the monitor with default scaling.
When maximized, the browser windows overlaps into the other monitor by 1 pixel. I'm wondering if this is enough for it to register as being on the 4K screen for (some?) UI elements but not everything.

@alexdante - Overlap bug a known issue, and is fixed in the latest snapshot.
-
@Ayespy Cheers, I'll grab it tonight and check if it resolved this issue too.
-
The pixel overlap is gone, but the tooltips & menus are still scaling incorrectly.
Lost my profile & all my open tabs as well, for the third consecutive upgrade. I think I'm done being a beta tester for now, someone let me know when this hits 2.0

What if I want just the Speed Dial smaller again (so I don't need to scroll it)? The zoom control on it is inactive, so I can't move it, and the value it shows coincides with the default webpage zoom, though changing that makes no difference to the actual size of the Speed Dial (not that it would be an acceptable solution even if it did).
-
@abm0 - Speed dial size is not adjustable right now. Developers are working on it.
