Closing the window when all tabs are closed
-
Hi! I've just started using Vivaldi browser and am still figuring out how to completely customize it. I can't figure out how to close the browser when I shut all the tabs. Right now, once I shut all the tabs, the speed dial tabs automatically opens. How do I disable this from happening? Thanks! PS: If someone knows any other hacks, please let me know

Add a shortcut for exit, e.g. Ctrl + Shift + W and use that to exit.
Set your desired startup option in settings.
Unless you want to restore the last session, then only your chosen pages or a speed dial tab will be shown on startup.
Personally, I find it much better to use Restore last session. I rarely have a bunch of tabs open. In Opera 12.17 I pin three tabs in a stack, and then close any superfluous tabs with Ctrl + W before exiting.

@Gwen-Dragon:
That was removed because of many users accidently closed last tabs and unwanted closed the browser.
But this is just a Windows UI problem, isn't it? On Mac closing the last window shouldn't close the application.
In Opera (Presto) for Windows there is also the option ("Allow windows with no tabs") to allow for an empty MDI host window with just the menu bar left, when closing the last tab, which mimics the Mac behavor. This BTW another reason why MDI is superior. If you just want to read my mail, I don't need a browser tab.
Closing the browser accidentally is nothing Chrome cares about, but Vivaldis launch time makes it hurt. At least then there are additional top level windows left, Ctrl+W shouldn't reopen the Speed Dial.
Also an option to close the last window and keep the application running would be nice, it's a requirement for the mail client anyway. Vivaldi optionally could stay in the Windows 7+ taskbar and/or notification area and make use of the Tasks menu accordingly.
