Why is Vivaldi logging me off constantly?
-
Hello everybody,
I updated a rather old beta version of Vivaldi to 1.4.589.38 on a Ubuntu system. Since that update I get logged off of all websites that I'm logged in to with every reboot of the system e.g. Twitter, Flicker, eBay. On those websites I marked the »remember me« setting and I have allowed cookies for those websites. My privacy extensions (uBlock, Privacy Badger) do not block cookies of these websites.
Any suggestion or fixes? Thank you!

Did you try to start Vivaldi with fresh profile? Backup your current profile folder and try to reproduce problem.
-
Try adding this to the Vivaldi launch command:
--password-store=basic %U
-
@muratservan No, the old profile is in use, as it stored a lot of passwords.

No, this did not help. But when I start Vivaldi in the shell I get this output:

It seems that there are multiple cookies for single websites. Could that be a problem or is this normal behavior?

Same for me on Ubuntu 14.04 (64-bit). That really needs an urgent fix in order to let us enjoying Vivaldi as much as before.
-
Okay, I think we found a bug here. I am running 14.04 (64-bit) to.
-
I confirm the presence of the same problem on Linux Mint 18 (64-bit)
-
Thanks to all for reporting!
We will try to fix it ASAP.
-
@talhakabakus @Air_Hamster are you using the same Vivaldi version @vanGeist
Also have you both tried with deleting all cookies: is it still happening?
Sorry for the trouble and thanks for being patient with us. -
@gaelle I'm using 1.4.589.38 (Stable channel) (64-Bit) and I tried deleting all cookies, but no effect.
-
@vanGeist we couldn't reproduce this issue internally.
Would you please try with Vivaldi's latest snapshot and let us know if it's still happening? You can download it from vivaldi.net
If this issue still continue even with latest snapshot, please file a bug report on vivaldi.com/bugreport so the dev team can look into it again.

It's also happening with the snapshot and with a fresh profile. I will write the bugreport asap.

The situation is still same with the latest update - 1.5. FYI
-
Hi, never had this problem on Opensuse 42.1/42.2, I always use snapshots.
After an update I have to login once again but then all fine.
Strange, could not work with Vivaldi if it were so on my system.
Understand you are annoyed.Cheers, mib

Hello, i'm having the same problem with Deepin 15.3 64bit. I've the last snapshot installed
-
Windows user here... This is happening with me too. Although, I remain signed in to my google account, but I get logged out of most of the other sites I use (INCLUDING Vivaldi forum). Any fix would be appreciated.
-
Dreadfully sorry to necro this old post, but the issue is still present on Windows, version 1.15.1147.42 (Stable channel) (32-bit) (and the previous release).
I'm a new user of Vivaldi.
Cookie settings:
Accept Cookies = Session Onlie
Third-Party Cookies=Block ThirdParty Cookies(Saved Cookies=115 from 26 domains)
Not sure why I keep getting logged out all the time... From every single site I'm using. Does occur whenever I close Vivaldi for a long period of time/reboot/log-out+log-in to the Windows account.

@losers
Hi, iirc "Session Only" mean all cookies are deleted at closing Vivaldi, therefor you have to log in after restart.
I have a white list for this, Vivaldi keep the cookies on the white list and delete all other.vivaldi://settings/content/cookies?search=cookies
You can allow with > [*.]vivaldi.net for example.
Cheers, mib

Hi @mib2berlin ! Ah, that's great. Hopefully, Vivaldi can add contextual help. on hover.
If I only knew what they meant by "session only".
I really appreciate your response, though! Thanks!
-
@losers "Session only" means what it means in all browsers and everywhere on the web. It means that something persists only during a single session, and is deleted or ceases to exist when the application (in this case a browser) is closed. It is present only in this session, not in the next one. I suppose the developers assume that people know this. I've been seeing it on the web for twenty years, so it is a term that's in general use. That said, more contextual help will gradually be added to the browser.
