Of course it is. The founder of Vivaldi is a big opera fan, one of his parents was a composer, and BTW, he also co-founded Opera ASA, which makes the Opera browser. So for him, Jon S Von Tetzchner, Vivaldi was a natural choice for the name of, first, his community after he left the Opera company and, of course, the browser he later decided to build.

I also like classical music but electron music but why not Mozart or Beethoven why specifically vivaldi?

You'd have to ask Jon. Perhaps he felt it had more panache (Like Ferrari) than Mozart or Beethoven (like Volkswagen). Maybe he likes Italian opera. Maybe he just likes "The Four Seasons."
-
Ok, the four seasons is probably the most wellknown music composed by Vivaldi. I like it but I think Mozart and Beethoven and some more did better classical music than Vivaldi did. Fur Elise and some more is one of Mozarts most wellknown music. But if you ask me about electronic music I know so much you cant imagine. I am an electronic music lover and composer.

I wish the browser had been named Symphony or Orchestra. I think they would have been the perfect names, describing precisely what this software is becoming.

Orchestra would have been ghastly. Symphony perhaps. But of course that name is already taken by a productivity platform so...

I figured symphony would have been taken already. But I'm curious why orchestra would have been ghastly? Really that bad?

STOP PRESS.
In breaking news Ayespy sensationally links revered composers with corporate malfeasance & devious software Machiavellian-ism. You heard it here first folks. Scandalous. -

It hurts the nervous system with its glottal stop and the "str" phoneme. It neither rolls off the tongue, nor the neuron.

@Ayespy Got it
-
I think vivaldi is an ok name to a browser.
-
The .net and .com domains for Vivaldi happened to be free?
-
Choosing a composer of operas makes sense. And then you have to go for something that sounds good. Which leaves not much choice...
I would bet they considered both Verdi and Monteverdi -- Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich were likely dismissed early on
