@MacUser2525
Oh any chance to filter out the foreign languages/languages you will never read in the unread post.
Yes. I'd like to be able to hide posts. Really like it.
Hi, you can choose to ignore topics or categories, then they won't show up in unread.
It's in the "Watching / Not Watching" dropdown. -

Holy crap it's FAST! Excellent job, and the style is nice, but where are all the previous categories and threads? Were they all deleted?
Everything was ported over.
-
Looks really nice and runs fast.
I do find it slightly difficult to use. Maybe this stuff will become obvious when I use it a bit more.
My main concern is finding unread posts. When viewing from 'Categories', it doesn't seem clear which forums or topics have new posts.
The 'Unread' view is a nice feature. But as others have said, there might need to be a way to filter them better since there are a lot of forums that we might want to ignore.
Also, I don't see anywhere to click to go to the last unread post when you click on a topic.
-
This is much, much better.
-
It's going to take a while to get used to this unfamliar forum format. None of my bookmarks work, but fortunately I only had eight of them.
-
@Ayespy That's good, thank you Ayespy and G.Bartsch. It's actually really cool that you get to reply directly to people, just like some kind of blog thread, though I hope that doesn't take away from the forum-like feel of long threads and long conversations. It feels more bloggy, but if it still works like a thread, then it should still be great!
-
One problem I ran into in this forum: If you type a message too long that it goes below the screen, you can't scroll down to see the last part of your message. So you'll have to keep typing without making mistakes and hope that it'll turn out okay when you submit.
Another problem I see is title text being cut off at the bottom for letters like g's.
Also, is this forum development going to be an on-going thing?
-
It all looks so clean and tidy!
I can finally shut off Isuldur's Extension that he wrote for rearranging the text on the Vivaldi Forum Tabs so that when I open more than one Forum Topic the Tabs don't all say, Welcome to th... instead of the actual Topic like, Reader/reada....
Emoticons don't seem to render to graphics but I never did really cotton to graphics over text anyway -- it's nice!

@isak Thank you, that helps some. But I would like to be able to hide topics from the main complete list under any main section. Liking the forum so far. The speed is very pleasing.

Hi,
congratulations for the launch and successful content migration!
Couldn't have a a deeper look yet, her are first 10 minutes impressions
cool/great
-
it is significantly faster
-
new editor, especially the Zen Mode..
<----!I wish I could write this scream for an empty line option in light grey!---->
hmmm/undecided- User settings section now loves huge symbols which could need some explanations (info tool tips)
<----!I wish I could write this scream for an empty line option in light grey!---->
uncool/regression-
no full user name display (just the initials) in the forums header (-> wish)
-
new editor, because WYSISWYG options got significantly less
-
Markdown: yes, simplicity is a great thing, but having no underline or type color options anymore is overshooting that mark
-
new editor, because when hitting the the COMPOSE question mark and proceeding the Markdown help opens in the very same tab (should be a popup/new tab like with JIRA/Confluence, for example), and when navigating back the editor and message just entered seem to be discarded. Luckily, that's not the case, starting to write a new reply brings up the editor section with the last work-in-progress unsent message.
<----!I wish I could write this scream for an empty line option in light grey!---->
For the start
- one huge hope: longer-lasting (or self-refreshing) user sessions
<----!I wish I could write this scream for an empty line option in light grey!---->
Again, congrats for this smart move in terms of operations and thank you for your hard work.

Oh... dear.
Looks they've switched to the same forum software that Airliners.net did recently - with the same fallout...
Annoying bright white background.
Lack of demarcation by lines or shading.
Acres and acres and acres of wasted blank space.
Result...? Pain on the eyes, harder to separate the types of content, lots and lots and lots of scrolling.
I'm sure the core is better and faster, but PLEASE add a new dark, more compact theme!
-
congrats on new forum
nodeBB is a good choice -
It's nice and fast, but it has also been dumbed down. Feels far more casual than the previous forum.
at least markdown still works
-- that's a big plus -
Yaaay! It works great on mobile devices
But... what about login page?BTW you should redirect vivaldi.net/forum to forum.vivaldi.net
Also... Please replace this icon:
It took ma about 30 seconds to figure out what should I click to edit my post....
It is definitely not intuitive one.PS.
PPS. I agree that it's a bit too white here...
Would it be possible to add colour-striping for posts?... -
This is so much better! I might be actually starting to use these forums
Things I'd like:
- Ignoring categories so I can completely ignore all the forums I don't want to read (p.e. things in other languages)
- https://forum.vivaldi.net/popular/daily This is great! But again, I need to some way to ignore categories AND a way to open this directly when I click on "FORUM" at the header. Currently it opens since "the beginning of time". This is located in Settings > Homepage BTW.
- I was really expecting the blog to change too, more than the forums. Hopefully they can switch to WordPress soon.
- Edit and Bookmark should be in-place, not behind a menu.
- Either increase the username font or decrease the permalink. And change the color, currently they kinda mix up. Maybe get the username below the avatar, as every forum ever?
I suggest changing language to English-pirate =P, also Emojeeeees
-
UX on my phone is far far more better than on desktop. xD
This forum is just made for browsing on phoneYes - there is a plenty of wasted space on desktops.
And the horizontal lines between posts are really hard to see -
@NSANE
Number 1. is already possible, you can go to the local forums, scroll to the bottom and click watching -- set it to ignore. All local forums will be ignored, but you can still reenable some of them afterwards by visiting the subforum and setting it to "watching" -
Well, it looks nice enough at first glance, but its design is actually difficult to read (for me). I would have liked function over form more. Things like multiquote are kind of awkward here.
Maybe I'm too oldschool for this flat web design, that works without anything that resembles classic menu systems (like so many mobile apps do nowadays).
-
Where are my reputation points from previous forum?
And I found strange bug on this site, open search ctrl+f a start typing slowly word "reputation"... -
I think I like it more than the previous one, though I feel like it's just a little bit too... minimalistic? Too much simplified? I don't want to say "dumbed down" because that's not how I feel about it. I just miss a few things, like e.g. a post counter or user reputation displayed right next to their avatars or usernames.
Here are some other thoughts of mine (so far):
- The time/date of each post displayed right next to its author's username is a bit confusing sometimes, I mean they're the same font and color, both bold and underlined and they're separated by just one little spacebar? I think that's not enough (doesn't apply to users with special badges, like forum moderators or administrators).
- What's the point of having the direct reply functionality if there's no threaded view? (Or I'm just a blind fool and I can't find it?)
- I'm glad that the previous, insufficient "Thank you" voting system was replaced with a new, more meaningful one.
- Huge waste of vertical space IMO...
- These are just some random emoji, please ignore this line: (now that the emoticons are gone, I just had to try these... ).
Anyway - to everyone involved: Thanks for your hard work on the new forums. It's a change for the better.
