Features requests for 1.4

It would be nice to have an unsubscribe feature that worked. I've tried everything I know and I am unable to stop receiving emails from this forum.
-
Interesting. I receive zero emails from the forum. Perhaps you and I are doing something differently.

11. Ability to position ALL bars in ALL positions relative to the web content, and to each other
14. Re-sizable tab tiles
21. Movable buttons, add/remove buttons and UI partsNice.
It should be possible to set also tab height and disable "icon on tabs" (useful for vertical tab) and put the "less used" extensions in a sub-menu like this below or even making possible to move them in sidebar, not as web panels but as true extensions
(I did in rush, it's just for example)27. Bookmark menu button on Address Bar.
Completing also the bookmark bar with context menus and dragging.
4. Persistent content blocking
5. Persistent image controlIf it includes better cookie management, as Vanilla cookie manager does (whitelist/blacklist), it's perfect
I'll add myself:
a) Autohiding for all the bars and show on mouse over with custom margin activation in pixel
b) Skinnable context menus (useful for dark themes)
c) Script section in settings to hooks what we like - both for webpages and for Vivaldi UI
d) Something like an (optional) crash reporter which make/send you a dump to help correct future bugs/regressions if useful
e) From sidebar: option to open bookmarks and downloads in new tab/window and fully replace the "old" Material UI vivaldi://downloads with the one seen in Vivaldi sidebar (with some details, maybe).
f) Custom sizing for elements which are not resizable yet, like the context menus
g) Fix missing icons for chrome://about, chrome://settings and vivaldi://bookmarks.
h) "Reload all tabs" option
i) Addressbar should allow to erase bookmarks (after confirm) like it does for addresses visited.
j) Simplify theme changer by hours: probably is better to put the time interval manually and use the bar which show the colours only as reference.
k) Custom image for main toolbar (titlebar/addressbar/bookmarkbar) block and maybe custom patterns for blend them with custom themes.
l) Custom favicons for bookmarks
m) Some settings for mouse/keyboard scrolling speed
n) Other fixes/things that were asked/planned/in development -
Well beside sync. The big thing that needs to be done to let me switch to vivaldi would be handling local addresses gracefully. As I end up on my search provider everytime I try to get to a address in the local network.

I'm going to mention some features that I would like to be implemented, even though most of them have already been suggested.
[ol]
- Built in extensions such as adblock , VPN
- Reverse image search
- Properly working history tab
- Drag tab to new window
- Custom thumbnail images for speed dial tiles
- Re-sizable tab tiles
- Password manager
- Faster booting!! (probably because of node.js vivaldi is taking way longer than any other browser to boot)
- Sync
- An API to give developers better control over vivaldi would be nice in further future
- Also I noticed that the left bar is a bit empty. Maybe it could get more populated by some social media icons?
[/ol]
That's about it for now. I bolded the ones I consider more important

I just started using this browser and it's nice but I've run into some annoyances. Here's some feature requests from a first glance:
-
Improvements to address bar search. I can't seem to partially type both a url and a page title to find something. For instance If I broswed a page on this forum about tabs and wanted to find it again in another browser I would type "viva tabs" and get what I'm looking for. In Vivaldi i seem to have to type only the contents of a page title OR the url
-
More ways to view webpage titles. Modern browsers seem to have forgotten this. Tabs cut off the title, and you can't even see a tooltip by mousing over the tab. I'd like to see a feature where the whole title is put in the blank space to the right of the tabs. This way you don't have to have the horizontal main menu enabled and taking up space to read a webpage title.
-
Option for tabs underneath URL bar
-
Option for minimum tab width and scrolling to tabs off screen. If you have too many tabs open they become unreadable and tiny.
-
A bug: when the horizontal menu bar is open, I can't move my cursor across File, Edit, View, etc to view the options under each. I have to manually click each even if one is already open.
-
-
Ability to set your own image for the link on Start Page.
This will make Start Page more beautiful but without special abilities . -
- Improvements to address bar search.
I want that quite a bit as well!
- More ways to view webpage titles.
Web best practices say titles are suppose to be short. If they were short, you could view them on the tab preview popup. Having said that, I agree I'd like to have a better way (or more ways) to see the complete title. Maybe if the tab preview wrapped long titles onto additional lines within the preview?

If you turn off the tab previews you can see the whole page title even if it is long.

There just is not enough space to show the full tab title and the preview. If you want the full title, disable previews. If you want to select tabs visually, without reading titles, use the previews.
Opera 12.17 has it right. If you turn off tab previews, not only does it wrap titles to multiple lines, but you can also set the Toolbar Font and font size to suit your eye-sight. I cannot think of anything that would be better than this. Some have suggested showing the tab itself on hover, but I think that would prove irritating and slow.

It's often impossible for a page to follow those practices if the title incorporates user generated content, like this forum thread. The reality of those practices often being ignored should be acknowledged in a web browser anyway. What you suggested would be a nice feature.

Actually I am not looking for new features, more or less a little change in the behavior as it is.
1.) The space for Tab and address line is quite same height as Firefox et al. Compared to Opera 12 there is a lot more space in use. Maybe it might be possible to use a switch in settings for some size options? Maybe it is possible to change size of all elements, too? (like left bar, lower bar, address line, tab bar, frame atop tab bar [yes|no])
2.) The tab stacking is THE feature for a browser imho. It would be very useful for me in hoover mode to close one tab in the stack without loosing the stack focus (all the previews went down atm if I close one of them)

There's just 1 thing i miss from Google Chrome. It is the tabs shape. They are rectangular in Vivaldi. Would be nice to have a choice between rectangular, trapeze or circular

You can edit the Themes in Settings. Some corner rounding can be applied to the tabs.

Hi,
I'm a Vivaldi user from the first time and I love it! here is my little requests/suggestions (focused on the toolbar bookmars):
-
Right click on a boolmark in a folder bookmarks can open a menu with options like rename, edit, etc
-
Drag'n drop a web site address directly from address bar into bookmarks folder on toolbar.
-
Drag'n drop a bookmark from a folder bookmark to an other folder to quick organize or reorganize your best sites.
-
Middle click on a bookmark inside a folder bookmars doesn't close the dropdown menu (useful when you want to open and read multiple daily sites). Say you want to open 3 websites from the current folder, -> Do 3 middle click only
To sum up a bit I use only the toolbar bookmars and I don't like the current bookmarks organization. To me the most efficient way to organize them is to have the ability to organize them directly without having to go through a sidebar menu
ex:
You find good website ? great! drag'n drop it from the address bar to your folder categories in the bookmarks toolbar. You want to edit the name ? easy-> right click on it and rename it.
As you find many great site today, create a new folder and drag'n drop them from a folder to an other…
as simple as that -

I am new to Vivaldi. I like keyboard based navigation and then I soon like the quick command and filter dialogs of keyboard cheatsheet and preferences.<br /><br />Here is my request. I wish I could use English keywords rather than Japanese one even though I use Japanese GUI. For example, when I look for "New tab", I only have to type "new<space>tab" in English but have to type "<ctrl-j><Shift+a>tarashi<space>i/tab<return>" in Japanese. Usually English keywords are a lot shorter and doesn't require <ctrl> and <shift> keys.

Trapezoid tab shape shouts "You are using Chrome!!" Vivaldi will never adopt it, although it is built on a Chromium base. It seeks to differentiate itself, not identify itself with Chrome. HOWEVER, some user, once full skinning of Vivaldi is fully implemented, will make a skin just like the one you like, and you will be able to return to a Chrome-like experience.

PLEASE stop 'hiding' options for turning microphone and camera off, amongs other things, INCLUDING webfonts (for ALL websites) within icon on address bar on site-settings browser link or user having to use an shortcut pasted into the browser:
chrome://settings/search#c OR vivaldi://settings/search#c
or even develving deeper within the vivaldi://flags
or at the very least turn OFF mic and camera access for ALL websites and give the user the option to turn them ON, if required!
Give the user better options for turning OFF cutting-bleeding-edge stuff like webrtc, canvas, html5 video and audio, link prefetching, pre-rendering, dns-prefetch, TCP preconnect, which sometimes slows webbrowsing and adds to users woes re: privacy, even in igcognito/private-browsing mode (mis-nomer there!)
Consider turning ON sandboxing of ALL plugins by default, with an easy-to-find button or panel or prompt for the user to disable it.
Consider support English other than US English for spell-check.
Thanks.
