Some pages load but don't display anything
-
Hello! I'm having the issue in the title since the update to 1.3.551.30. I've tried resetting my profile, with no change in behaviour. This happens mainly on http://9gag.com, but it happens on other pages too, though a lot less frequent. This issue appears very randomly: sometimes the page is rendered properly, other times it just loads but displays a gray image. I've made a bug report about it, too. Is this a known issue? Has this been confirmed? This thing is driving me nuts and I'm seriously considering switching over to Edge or Firefox. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_saEy9NXLk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOlGhiP-X-E

Hello fellow 9gagger.
I have been facing a similar problem, except that it displays nothing in the address bar either.
May his Noodly Appendage, the Flying Spaghetti Monster answer our prayers.
Sorry for long post, here is an imaginary potato

Same thing occurs trying to edit an image on canva.com!

There is a similar bug reported - but with blank url as well. This is a regression in V1.3.
https://vivaldi.net/en-US/forum/vivaldi-browser/14134-occasional-blank-pages
(among others).Your problem is a bit different as the page contents are loaded, but not visible (as demonstrated by dragging in first video) and the url is correctly shown.
I have seen a report of that before in the forum, but can't find it at the moment.
For future reference as the BUG DB is closed, what is the bug number (VB-xxxx ) you received. -
Sadly, I have deleted that email so I don't have the number anymore. Only one single time somebody had replied to my bug report, so I didn't think it would be useful to keep. If you could search the reports DB, the email linked to the report is: [email protected].
-
It's VB-20377, in case that will help anyone. It's a duplicate of VB-19764, so the latter number is the one to watch for.
-
Have you managed to reproduce it if it had been reported so long ago?
-
It's been reproduced in-house, and it's being worked on. It was widely reported, but not all internal testers can get it to happen on their systems. In fact most testers can't replicate it. At least one of the guys did, though.
Blank pages have been produced by testers on downloads and logins, but not in routine browsing or following of links. I'm thinking all of these scenarios are somehow related. But as I say, it's being worked on.
-
That's good, then. I really hope they would be working towards a stable bug fix release, instead of new releases with huge features that take months to flesh out.
By the way, I can replicate the issue on http://9gag.com 95% of the time, so if you need my computer/build to figure out what is going on, it's all yours (via TeamViewer or whatever).
-
You can use the workaround by den_po until it's fixed

Doesn't make any difference, sadly.
-
This is not fixed in 1.3.551.37!
-
Then your problem is not the same one we were able to reproduce. That problem is fixed in the current snapshot.
Please describe in more detail, including a specific website and procedure, how you produce your problem. Also, describe your platform and list your installed extensions, please.
-
The problem is described in great detail in the bug report (VB-20377, I think). Basically, just open 9GAG and then try to open the posts in separate tabs using middle click. In 9/10 of the cases, the result will be a blank page.
I've tried deleting the profile with no change in behaviour. No extensions were used while testing the latest build (1.3.551.37).
Oh, by the way, I'm using Windows 10 updated to the latest build.
-
Hi, checking with the same build as you and open 20 tabs with middle click.
All 20 pages was working.
The page has very long loading times even I am on a 100Mbit cable connection.
Will check on a Windows 10 version next.Cheers, mib

I don't have an account, but I can't replicate the problem. Is there a page that does this where you don't need an account?
-
I have the same problem when i search some locations on google and click on the map link
I made a short video :

Platform : Windows 10 64 bits, Vivaldi 64 bits
Extensions : none -
Interesting. I can't make mine do that. 32-bit Vivaldi on 64-bit Win 10. What is your version number?
-

OK. I used your search term. I got the map.
I wonder what the variable is?
