The 1.2 stable release is already a bit old at this point. If you want, you can update to a current developer snapshot (see here). Those versions contain a lot of fixes and improvements over 1.2 and it would be interesting to see if the issue still happens with a more recent version of Vivaldi. Alternatively, 1.3 stable will hopefully be released in the not too distant future.
In either case, it would be great if you could let us know if you still experience this issue in the more recent versions.

Will installing a snapshot version change all the settings I have in place?
Thx

No, your settings won't get reset or anything like that.
You could also make a copy of /Users/yourUsername/Library/Application Support/Vivaldi before updating, and if anything unexpected happens after the update, just revert to that version of the settings and your current version of Vivaldi.

The only thing that will change is you will start getting notifications of Snapshot updates rather than Stable updates. The two streams do not see each other's updates, but snapshots are updated every week or two, and sometimes more than once a week.

I backed it up as you said and I realized it's about 7GB. Is that right?? Specifically it is this folder that is big: \Users\Home\Library\Application Support\Vivaldi\Default\File System\002\t\00
Why is this folder so huge? Are these needed…?
Thx

I am not really familiar with YouTube videos and how they are uploaded… Is it possible that some are uploaded without the option of preview thumbnails on the timeline?
I am asking because watching two different videos next to each other one has previews and the other doesn't.... But then again there are videos where the preview placeholders show up but are blacked out... So maybe more a YouTube issue than browser issue.
Sorry to have made this a Vivaldi issue when in fact this might not be
thx

I just noticed that a YouTube video in Vivaldi was not showing the preview thumbnail, but when I then copied the URL to Safari, the preview thumbnail wasn't there either. So it definitely looks like some YouTube videos support thumbnails and others don't.
If you encounter an issue with a video or a web page, it's always a good idea to test it in another browser first, to rule out that the issue is with the source material itself. If anyone does find an issue with YouTube preview thumbnails that is specific to Vivaldi, it would be great if you would let us know.
