Copying part of the URL doesn't work
-
When you try to copy part of the URL, you get the entire URL. :pinch:
-
What do you mean??
Please specify your problem….
If you want only part of the URL, you could always copy-paste it onto notepad and remove the part you don't want.... -
in url bar? here works…
check if is enabled this in tools > settings > address bar > show full url [check] -
Bug appears when you select a parth of URL from the beginning.
Workaround: copy by ctrl+x, not ctrl+c -
@Gwen-Dragon This drives me nuts, can you check the progress on that bug and give us an update?
Thanks for the workaround, see if I can remember to use that instead in the mean time.
-
Weird but seems intentional: Ctrl-c or even context menu/copy always copy whole url if selection include first char, it doesn't matter if it's marked forward or backward.
Edit: not even Ctrl-x works for me. -
The original bug was closed as it was fixed, but apparently it reappeared a couple of builds later. The number of the second bug is VB-23122.
-
I have show full address set, and doesn't work
-
I'm already on 1.12 snapshot, can't tell for old releases
-
@Gwen-Dragon not if I start or end on 1st char of the url, I've now retried with both show full url enabled and disabled.

@Gwen-Dragon said in Copying part of the URL doesn't work:
Copying part works for me on 1.12.933.3 x64 Win 10x64 if showing full URL.
Weird but seems intentional: Ctrl-c or even context menu/copy always copy whole url if selection >include first char, it doesn't matter if it's marked forward or backward.
Yes, still fails for me too!?
URL = "https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/6781/copying-part-of-the-url-doesn-t-work/15"
Try to copy only "https://forum.vivaldi"
When pasting (into search field or new tab url) I get the full address pasted!?1.12.933.3 (Official Build) dev (64-bit) on Linux Mint KDE.
Edited to include iAn's quote.

@Gwen-Dragon Awesome! I hope this gets addressed, I've been thusfar unable to train my brain to cut part of the URL when I need to copy it. Maybe it's just the kind of work I do, but it gets me many times a day.

Vivaldi 1.12.955.38 here. When I select a part of the URL (ctrl c), or copy with mouse, the clipboard is empty. Only copying the full URL works. Wonder when this will be fixed? Thanks!
-
@tjukken Already fixed in current snapshot 1.13.971.8
So will be done in next stable release. -
@tbgbe Cool! Thanks.
-
Just for the record: I still have this occasionally with 1.15.1125.3-1 and previous versions.
-
I have this issue as well, even in the snapshot version (1.15.1147.21 (Official Build) snapshot (64-bit), Linux).
-
This issue still persists with version 2.2.1388.37 (Stable channel) (64-bit) and is hands down the most frustrating aspect of Vivaldi for me.
-
@alexdante Yeah it's the same here.
-
Just want to bump this as it still drives me nuts on almost a daily basis. Usually I remember to cut, but at least a couple times a day I forget and swear when the part of the URL I copied is not in the clipboard when i go to paste it.
