Vivaldi loves me less than it could (was: Vivaldi hates my browsing habits)
-
There are two things in Vivaldi that rub against the way I've used all my browsers for half a decade. And then there's the third thing I don't know about whether it's a bug or a feature. IN SHORT: 1. I can't drag a url into a folder on bookmark bar. It's annoying. 2. Clicking a bookmark on bookmark bar by default opens a new tab. It's annoying. 3. No matter what I check in the preferences for the address bar autocompletion, it never gives me results I expect. It's annoying. IN A COUPLE OF MORE WORDS: My way of surfing heavily relies on the bookmark bar. All my stuff is there. Instead of keeping zillions of tabs open, I have a "tmp" folder on bookmark bar, where I drag stuff I intend to check out later. (That consumes about zero % of memory and is much handier than zillions of tabs open, because you can search bookmarks.) I could always use the bookmarks panel instead, of course (and now I have to) but it's not nearly as handy. Bookmark panel takes a lot of room on the screen too, bookmark bar takes very little room. Yes, you can open and close the bookmark panel, but it's too much hassle (for me) compared to bookmark bar, which can be always open without getting on my nerves. About point 3, usually I get some peculiar old bookmark/history result, but not anything I've recently browsed – OR Vivaldi by brute force gives me some recently viewed single page from the same domain, even if I try to delete the suggested path and leave only the domain address in the bar. Both ways, it's annoying. Could there be preference options for 1. and 2. please? About 3. I don't know what to suggest... copy Firefox behaviour?

@Gwen-Dragon:
Vivaldi hates no one! Strange title of angry user?
Ok, maybe I went slightly overboard with the subject… Edited it a bit. How about now?
The browser is not 100% readay for Final release. But in it usable for most of daily work.
Yeah, sure, I know! I already use Vivaldi most of the time for all my daily browsing. Mostly everything's great! So, thanks for that.
2. Open vivaldi://settings/bookmarks/ and in section Beahavior deactivate the "Start in new tab"
A-ha! Missed that. Thanks!
3. Is internally fixed and will be released in next Snapshot.
Great! Sorry for the overly provocative subject. All the best!

Still missing the ability to drag urls to folders on the bookmark bar.

While I agree that the Bookmarks Bar is still a bit work-in-progress, wouldn't clicking on your "tmp" folder in the Bookmarks Bar and choosing "Add Active Tab" be equally if not more efficient than dragging the URL to that folder?
