Problems finding Mail after Sign-in
-
Since the most recent Vivaldi upgrade access to Webmail has become very hit and miss.
The Vivaldi LogIn box appears and I complete it as per usual.
Click to Sign In and the page changes to a sort of home page.
Find and click on 'Webmail' and the page changes, sometimes returning the self-same page, sometimes another random page.
I have to close the Tab, load up a New Tab and try again and again.
Close the browser and re-open, sometimes I can get Webmail, sometimes not.Later, I sign out and close the browser.
Re-open the browser later and Webmail is already open!
Totally confused by all this nonsense - how can I solve the issues?

@tonyhewitt I have similiar poblems with webmail
-
@alcazone I did send a request to the help pages, but their reply did nothing for my confidence in the security of Vivaldi Webmail following this recent update. Apparently, they couldn't reproduce my issues.
As a consequence, I am seriously considering any alternatives to Vivaldi that can provide good security without having to pay a small fortune for the privilege. -
@tonyhewitt @alcazone
Hi, I use the Vivaldi mail client usually but testing web mail work at first try, logged in 3 times, logged out, restart Vivaldi and so forth.
Try this in a new profile or at least a guest profile, I bet an extension cause this.Cheers, mib

Does this issue persist when logging in from here, https://webmail.vivaldi.net/

I came across your reply after posting a reply to another thread and getting a 'flash' notification my thread had been moved.
Thank you, that link does work - I have now set it as a bookmark.
Quite frankly I am the end of my tether with Vivaldi Webmail and this new-fangled 2-factor authentication just doesn't wash with me.
I use Vivaldi on my pc and laptop but not on my basic mobile phone, a Nokia 130.
Factor 1 - Use an App - I don't use a smartphone, which should be provided free of charge by the OS supplier, who use smartphones as mobile advertisement hoardings.
Factor 2 - Use a Security Key - does that mean I have to use a usb stick every time I want to read my e-mail?
Factor 3 - Send an Access Code to my mobile, which would work on my mobile because banks and utility companies use that method. Not offered by Vivaldi.
Please copy any response to my non-preferred e-mail address: [email protected]
I had been in the process of discarding Gmail for Vivaldi, but now it seems like I will end up discarding Vivaldi. -
@tonyhewitt You are under absolutely no obligation to set up two-factor authentication. While we certainly recommend it, we understand that it is not an option for everyone.

I believe there are non-mobile alternatives, such as applications for your desktop/laptop that are able to provide TOTP codes.

You would need to use it any time that you need to log in at least. How often you need to log in depends on a few factors (eg. cookie settings, how many device(s) you log in from, etc), but you should already have a fairly good idea of how often you are asked to log in.

SMS as a second-factor is known to be insecure. In addition it would incur a cost to Vivaldi every time someone uses it to log in. Given that Vivaldi is a small, employee-owned company, and that the webmail service is free and not ad-supported, it does not make sense for us to take such a cost upon ourselves.

Thank you for your very quick response and clarifications offered.
Perhaps you can offer some advice on how to break the login cycle, which after entering my password takes me to a Vivaldi Logo page.
Clicking on the Vivaldi Logo takes me to another general page with various choices, including Webmail, which invites me to download Vivaldi, and Mail, which takes me back to a Login page.I just go round and round in circles, occasionally finding random pages like 2-factor authentication. It is taking me as long as 10 minutes to eventually find my Inbox or often give up for an hour or two.
There is something amiss somewhere, but the only response from Vivaldi Support informed that they could not reproduce the issue.
Initially, I had been using Windows 10 Pro on a Gigabyte A320 pc with Ryzen 3 processor.
Today, I am using Windows 10 [Home] on an Acer AX3300 with AMD Athlon II processor.
(A Windows Update has totally crashed my newer pc (Ryzen 3), hopefully temporarily.
