Some suggestions
-
- Could you add "+" and "-" buttons for the zoom bar? The "-" to the left of and the "+" to the right like Microsoft Office apps have? this is much easier than having to drag the bar when on a tablet with a stylus. 2) Could you also re-position the default location of the radio to be more central? Most apps with a scale bar have the 100% location in the direct center of the bar as opposed to the far left. Moreover, the radio needs a black outline to it so it is easier to see. 3) Regarding the appearance of the tabs, is it possible to have the clickable area of the tab stretch to the top of the window? Right now, the clickable area of the tab, vertically, only goes like, 90% of the width of the full tab bar. Yes, I realize that some of that space is reserved for the tab stacking, but some users don't use tab stacking. When using my tablet, I am more prone to clicking in a more central location, so this suggestion doesn't exactly apply for that, however when using a desktop/laptop with a mouse, for the sake of speed, this suggestion helps immensely. Chrome and Firefox clickable areas extend all the way to the top of the screen. Since I go for speed without having to look where my mouse is at all times, I take advantage of the fact that the mouse cursor is limited by the extents of your screen and quickly push my mouse to the top, knowing when I click I will click the tab. In Vivaldi, this isn't the case, since the area above the tab is not clickable, it is part of the tab bar, not the tab. 4) Add Yahoo! as one of the default search engines?

#3 is selectable in settings. Menu/Settings/Tabs/Tab display/ select "Remove Tab Spacing in Maximized Windows"
#4 is selectable in settings. Menu/Settings/Search

Overkill in my opinion. People would then have different opinions about whether the zoom in/out buttons should zoom by 1% 5% 10% or something else.
#2 I don't know which applications you use, but I would expect the zoom slider control to be centred when the zoom level is half way between the minimum (20%) and maximum (500%), i.e. when it is at 260%.

Thank you on #3. Yes, I added Yahoo myself with #4, but I'm asking about it being one of the default options after install, without having to manually add it.

It's a default on my machine. Perhaps it's regionalized. But Yahoo has always been a default in Windows in the US. In fact, I'm pretty sure Vivaldi has a revenue deal with Yahoo.

Regarding #2, check out MS Office apps (word, excel, powerpoint, etc.), WordPad, Foxit PDF (non MS program), Google Maps on the web, Google Earth (I realize that the slider bar in Earth doesn't ever re-position, however it is always at the center). All are centered zoom bars.
Regarding #1, it is not something that is a fixed increment, no. You select a bunch of predetermined %'s that the buttons cycle between. The intent is that if you drag the slider to say, 52% and want 50%, you can just click the "-" button and have it go to 50% as it would be predetermined.
Firefox zoom levels are 30-50-67-80-90-100-110-120-133-150-170-200-240-300
MS Office levels are 10% to 500% at 10% increments
Chrome levels are 25-33-50-67-75-90-100-110-125-150-175-200-250-300-400-500
Internet Explorer is 10-25-50 and continued 25% increments until 1000% (overkill, heh).It is kind of an organic zoom button. If you have used a computer, when you click zoom out you kind of expect either 90% or 75% to be next. Similarly, when you zoom in, you expect 110% or 125%. No need to put out a poll to determine if the +/- buttons are 1%, 5%, 10%, 25%, or whatever. It is just organic based on human-expected pretty numbers.

I have Vivaldi installed on two Windows 10 machines. The default choices I am given are Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, and Wikipedia. Even clicking the restore defaults (in the settings) just gives me those.

Where are you geographically? And what version number do you have?
Edit: My snapshot has Yahoo and my Stable does not. Investigating this now…

OK - this is completely weird. Out of eight Vivaldi installations in this house, only two of them have Yahoo. I know for sure that I didn't add it to one of these - it's not even on a personal machine of mine, and I don't recall ever adding it to the other (It's a search engine I don't use), though it's just barely POSSIBLE I could have added it to the second machine, because I did add Dogpile to that one.
But the one thing the two machines that DO have it, have in common, is that they have had Vivaldi installed for over a year.
And I know for sure that many months ago we were having discussions in the Forums concerning the fact that Bing and Yahoo, as installed by the download package, were routed through a revenue-generating portal in Israel on the way to carrying out their searches. Here is a link to that topic : https://vivaldi.net/forum/all/7901-what-is-www-vivaldi-rocks?limitstart=0 But NOW, every version of Vivaldi I have that was installed more recently than a year ago, does not have Yahoo included. It puzzles me.

Same for me
- Present in 32 bit Stable (V1.2)
- Not present in 64 bit Snapshot (V1.3)
Like you, I don't use Yahoo and I did not add it - but it is possible that I may have deleted it some time ago from the snapshot as I have made some changes to the search engine list.
P.S. UK based, but the link goes to yahoo.com and NOT to yahoo.co.uk  -

Ah. You came on board AFTER Yahoo was no longer being installed by default, apparently. It seems it may have fallen by the wayside before 1.1 stable.
