1. Not yet. It may come in due course
2. You can. Change your default search engine. That's the one that is used.Later, we may get a search with submenu. Vivaldi is still in its early days of development (About 1 year and 3 months since the first Technical Preview was released), so be patient. Features will be added and bugs fixed gradually.
Snapshot 1.3 will be out soon. Keep on eye on the blogs by subscribing to the RSS feed in Opera 12.17.

every time first changing the default search engine is pretty unpractical and renders it useless.
i am constantly searching with this and not typing something into the search field.
dont really understand why this is not implemented. should be very little code and this is a major bummer.
a reason why i am not using vivaldi constantly.hope they add it soon..

Don't really understand why this is not implemented.
Since anyone can add any number of different search engines, the menu has to be populated for each user's settings, and of course users will want to choose the order too. If only such things were as easy to code as some imagine it would have been done by now.
Give the developers a break. There's a pile of bugs/features to fix and everyone has a different feature that they need a.s.a.p.
-
so with giving them a break you mean not giving feedback?
i still dont think coding this is difficult. especially when there is already a searchengine list implemented..

Feedback is welcome.
That said, one's opinion as to whether this or that feature would be "difficult" to code is irrelevant to feedback. Its inclusion in a feature request, especially along with "dont really understand why this is not implemented" is an implicit condemnation of the developers' skills or priorities or both, take your pick. You're entitled to an opinion, of course.
But what's relevant feedback is what you need and why you need it (maybe even how BADLY you need it). What's not relevant is your opinion of the sort of job the developers are doing, especially in view of the fact that you know literally nothing of their workload or priorities, even if you DO know how to write a browser, yourself. (do you?)
Of the 18 thousand or so bug reports and feature requests received in the last year and a half, given that about 71 new features have been introduced and a few hundred bugs fixed in that time, which projects, exactly, do you propose that the 20 or so developers drop in order to attend to this particular feature, pray tell? I'd venture to guess you couldn't actually say. Or did you perhaps think they were watching cat videos when they could be ironing out search engine protocols instead?
So, PLEASE, by all means, provide feedback on your needed features and any bugs you find, and then please let Jon manage his developers and their work load. K? K. Thanks!

This is beyond retarded, guys. The right-click menu is the single most usefull feature in a browser. CUT THE EXCUSES AND SMART-ARSE ATTITUDE TOWARDS USERS FOR STATING THE OBVIOUS, ALREADY!

@BelaBela
Most software development is centred around touch devices these days because that's where the money is.
Many desktop applications are moving towards a similar look and feel of touch devices because the goal is to have a similar experience on all devices.
You will rarely get software to behave exactly how you want unless you develop it yourself.
If you don't code look for other solutions.eg.
You say you have eyesight problems but want right click menu items.
That says to me you prefer to use the mouse over keyboard shortcuts.
So why not use the inbuilt mouse gestures to 'CLOSE WINDOW' etc.@BelaBela said in Right click menu?:
Am also not fond of TABS and am trying to force all tabs to act as WINDOWS.
I think you may be the first person I have come across who prefers windows to tabs???
-
meanwhile any plans to make an editable right click menu or is this impossible with the chrome engine?
-
@schreck There are plans for customizable context menus, but no ETA so far. The latest request for such feature has been posted here - you might want to go there and vote for it (and for other requests if you like). You can also add your own requests (if they haven't been added by someone else already). These threads are helpful to the developers to get an overall idea about which features are the most needed/wanted by the community.
