Bring back the old tab stacking drag & drop behaviour
-
Hello.
Tab stacking is the main reason I use Vivaldi, but recently this feature has become unusable. The hotspot for stacking tabs on each other when drag and dropping is very small and it requires you to wait a certain amount of time before it registers the intent to stack. If you drop it too soon - it will not stack. I don't want to ctrl+select -> right click -> stack. It's a waste of time. The bahaviour should be instant and responsive like it was before.
The best version of this feature I saw last in 5.1.2567.73 - No waiting before dropping. Big hotspot. Much clearer highlights.
Please bring it back, or at least tell me how to do it myself without blocking vivaldi updates, which im currently doing now.
Thank you.

@mikii123 See Settings, Tabs, Tab Stack Option, Stacking Drop Delay. Reduce it to Short.

@Pesala thank you for the quick response.
However. When I say "bring back the old behaviour" - i mean it.
The new one has been so drastically changed that it looks bugged.- The "short delay" you suggested is still too long - there was no delay in 5.1.2567.73.
- Stacking hotspot is too small - it is nearly impossible to stack now. Vivaldi thinks I want to reorder the tabs and it keeps flipping them instead.
- Unstacking has also been changed - in 5.1.2567.73 it was possible to unstack with drag and drop. Even move it from stack to stack. But now it is not (or at least it's so convoluted that it doesn't work)

@mikii123 Don't drag the tab directly on top of another tab to activate stacking (like it used to be). Now you should drag the tab to TOUCH another tab & wait for the highlighting animation to appear, then drop to stack 'em.
Do it like this:

@dude99 Yes.
That is too small of a hotspot. It requires an almost pixel-perfect mouse movement to work, it flips the tab otherwise. -
@mikii123 Don't drag it over 50% of the tab, keep it around 30% for a moment will do if you set it to short.
My guess is they design this behavior intentionally to prevent accidental stacking - which used to be a huge problem that can't be resolved even with delayed stacking activation. IMHO this is a better behavior than the older one, because I no longer stacking tab by accident since they shrink the trigger zone to below 50%.
Unfortunate for you, my guess is they ain't gonna switch it back to the older behavior, because this new behavior actually manage to greatly reduced the chances of accidental stacking.

@mikii123 I am sure that the old behaviour will not come back. Way too much work has already been done on refining tab stacking.
There are already many pages of feature requests for tab stacking. I suggest voting for Make Stacking Tabs Quicker.
If you adapt your work flow as dude99 suggested, you will soon be able to stack tabs easily with drag and drop. Vertical Tabs make it hard, but if you open loads of tabs, horizontal tabs makes them small.

For some context, here's how it should ideally work like (ver. 5.1.2567.73)
Please note how fast and responsive it already was.
No pixel perfect precision required.
