Install Vivaldi as a Standalone version, how?
-
Well, the title pretty much says everything, but let me expand upon that a bit: In the past, by that I mean some of the pre 1.0 Snapshots of the browser, I was able to install the most recent dev version of the unstable Snapshot as a Standalone version, before I decided to overwrite a working and relatively 'stable' version. Some time ago this feature has gone missing for me. When I now start the setup and click on the "advanced" button, the Installation type dropdown-field is always disabled. As you can see on the screenshot I've embedded below, the computer is running Windows 7 x64 and this is the 32 bit installation of version 1.1 RC2, but the same happens with any other version of the setup I've tried as well (such as the most recent Vivaldi.1.1.453.47.exe and Vivaldi.1.1.453.47.x64.exe). It also doesn't matter if another instance of the browser is running or not. Is there anything I'm doing wrong, or are there maybe parameters I can add that would get the back desired installation type? Thanks for any help.

Hi,
I also encounter this situation, and found out it's kind of strange (non-logical to me) behavior. You have to change folder name first. Then you'll be able to install standalone version.

Thank you, stealth789.
This works indeed, but I share your view of this "non-logical behavior". First I have to change the folder, then I have to choose Standalone as installation type and third I have to set it to the correct folder again, because changing the installation type also reset it to the default installation path.

You're welcome ;). I also agree that there's lack of intuition in installation settings for sure. I guess it should be modified.

Thank you very much for it, and for great work you all do. We appreciate it!

Thanks. This was really confusing me just now until I found this thread.
