Doesn't open any previous pages after a crash

Browser has crashed few times after watching some videos online (YouTube, cwtv.com, History channel) but when I reopen it. doesn't open any of the windows I had opened

I imagine that saving the session is part of the shutdown routine. If it doesn't get to shut down, it doesn't get to save. To back up the tabs continuously during a session might be taxing on resources - so I suppose that does not happen.
On the other hand, clearing the last session on reboot from a crash is also a good way to keep from getting into a crash loop. I have lived through the hell of a crash loop. Some open tab is crashing the browser, and every time you try to open it, it crashes again. Then you have to go into the profile and delete current/last session just to re-start the browser.
I don't know for sure that failure to reopen the last session on crash is intentional, but I can think of a couple of reasons why it might be. It might not be a bug. And I would be careful what one wishes for.

Chrome browser as well as Firefox have the option to restore previous sessions in the event of a crash and even select what windows/tabs if if any you want restored -
