What is the status of VB (=already reported bug/issue)?
-
I'm sorry to bug but does anyone know the status of (VB-87229) 'Pinned tabs move to other window when window close button is clicked'? This is particularly irritating for me because it blows up my carefully constructed window/tab scheme and then I have to rebuild it. I know most people can avoid masking this mistake and triggering this action but my disability means I have clumsey mouse control and I sometimes click the window close button. TIA.

Thank you.
Do these tickets get closed after some time period? If the issue is important to someone do they need to keep checking if the ticket is still active?
-
@g_bartsch There is no time limit. This one was closed as "cannot reproduce." I tested it and confirmed it, and reopened it a week ago or so. (Or to be more precise, I reopened VB-72970, of which VB-87229 is a duplicate. Master bug number is 72970,)
-
@Ayespy, and VB-29942?
Sorry to insist but you answered later tickets, so you might have oversight this.

@jesus2099
VB-29942Confirmed, elevated priority, currently unassigned.

Thank you so much. I hope the team can reproduce the bug. All the best.

I know we're not supposed to discuss bugs on the forum, but is there a way to get someone to take a second look at that report? It already includes a description of how Vivaldi's behavior is specifically worse than Chrome's (
pageAction.hide()
does nothing at all in Vivaldi), and it's also about a feature that Vivaldi had been supporting for years after it was removed from Chrome, but then suddenly stopped working without any deprecation announcement. Sounds like a bug to me. Even if that incredibly useful feature was intentionally removed for some reason, it still does not behave the same as it does in Chrome. -
@Hamclock I reopen the report now and pinged a dev. I hope you'll get an answer by mail.

@Hamclock We do not want bug fixing discussions here in thread.
Open a extra thread at https://forum.vivaldi.net/category/51/extensions for your extension problem. -

@doctorg
Is there any hope for a fix in the near future?How about this?
-
@debunix There is no way to know this.
-
@Ayespy
Why? Isn't this a longlasting issue?
That's the only thing that let's me use another browser as daily driver. -
@debunix The only things we can see are the status of the bug, its priority, who if anyone is assigned, and any comments that testers and developers may have posted. There are thousands of bug reports. They are not scheduled out as to which one will be addressed within which time frame. "Hope" is a personal, local value. It does not apply to bug-handling.
If I see someone assigned to a bug, see a lot of comments from them and from other testers/developers, see notes in those comments concerning progress, I may form an opinion of "hope." But while there may be indicators, there are no true predictors. I have tested "fixes" that never made it to Stable, because they broke things, and those things have still not been figured out.
Age of a bug is essentially irrelevant. There are thousands of bug reports - some quite practical to address, and some not at all practical. One of my favorite bugs I submitted seven years ago is not addressed.

@Ayespy
Thanks for further explanations and insights.
I will remain on hope for this bug
