Solved How delete standard labels?
-
In new snapshot there are 5 Labels that I don't need:
These are the colored "Important, Arbeit, Personal, To Do, Later".
I want to delete them to make my own list shorter.
How can I do that? -
@Dancer18 Hover the unneeded one and context menu "Löschen" or Entf key.
-
@DoctorG Thank you!
I actually could have figured that one out. -

-
@Dancer18 You are welvome

This does not work for me, neither for standard labels nor for those that i have created.
It just says that label will be removed from messages but label itself stays in the list. -
@user_unknown I am sorry, but i had not tested Vivaldi Mail with newer 5.3 version since a few weeks.
-
@user_unknown works in the current snapsnot 5.4.2712.3
-
@WildEnte No, it does not.
It doesn't even remove label from mail, although it says it will. -
@user_unknown huh. I'm pretty sure that my little animated gif shows that it works but apparently it doesn't for you. Do you have a filter running that sets that label given some criteria?
-
@WildEnte Yes, your little gif is nice
I don't have any filters on, as far as i know. -
@user_unknown so ... I think we need to get a bit more info in order to narrow down the issue. A bug report "doesn't work for me" won't get the issue resolved when the devs try it out and find that it works for them just like it works for me.
Where in the process do you see a difference to what I am seeing? Is everything the same until the warning message pops up? Is it just closing the warning dialog after you click the "delete label" dialog button, or does it some funky flickering action in the background?
-
@WildEnte I don't see any flickering.
After clicking "delete label" button, next label in list (in panel) is selected, that would be "Work" label in this case.
"Important" label stays where it was, with number beside it indicating number of mails with that label. This number does not change, and mails keep "deleted" label. -

and mails keep "deleted" label.
the "deleted" label? could you provide a screnshot? If you are on Windows, ShareX is a good program to make an animated gif...
-
@WildEnte by "deleted" label i mean the label that supposed to be deleted but it is not.
-
@WildEnte
Ok. Here is what the problem was (and i suppose it still is, ie. it is probably bug):
If in Settings > Panel > "Auto-Close Inactive Panel" is cheked, then labels could not be deleted.If "Auto-Close Inactive Panel" is cleared then everything works just like it should (like in your little gif).
-
@user_unknown wow. definitely a bug, and on top of that a good find! Thanks for the animated gif, that allowed me to reproduce this. The delete action does not work while the panel is closed, but the panel closes due to a) being a floating panel and b) due to the auto close setting you pointed out.
Most people have their mail panel non floating, and the few that do probably have not tried to delete a label yet.
I've taken the liberty of reporting the bug as VB-90275 and make sure to point out that you found it
