When closing one window, all other windows are also closed

-
@jumpsq no I never use that, and I add a gif for this post.
-
@xiaohai Could you try to execute vivaldi from the command-line (either
vivaldi-stable
orvivaldi-snapshot
)? I think that this is some kind of fault / crash and if it is, it may be displayed here when the second window closes. -
Such issue closing all windows does not happen for me with Ubuntu 22 LTS / Gnome 42.0
-
@jumpsq I tried to open vivaldi from terminal using"vivaldi-stable", and when the bug occurs, there is an exception from qt:
"Qt has caught an exception thrown from an event handler. Throwing
exceptions from an event handler is not supported in Qt.
You must not let any exception whatsoever propagate through Qt code.
If that is not possible, in Qt 5 you must at least reimplement
QCoreApplication::notify() and catch all exceptions there." -
It's all just pointless, until you get around to doing what someone said earlier...
retest in a clean profile
-
@xiaohai I'd just send a bug report at this point and reference this thread.
If you want to go ahead and test it with a clean profile (if this is really related to the QT code, I would be surprised if this did not happen there as well):
vivaldi-stable --user-data-dir="$(mktemp -td tmdir.XXXXXX)"
Also, if this is a QT issue, disabling "Use native window" at vivaldi://settings/appearance/ should hopefully circumvent the issue.
-
Thank you so much for being so attentive to my question! Thank you so much for reporting the bug! And I have tried
vivaldi-stable --user-data-dir="$(mktemp -td tmdir.XXXXXX)"
but unfortunately the bug also existed. Besides, "Use native window" was closed all the time, and the bug cooured wheather I turned it on or off.
I hope the relevant people solving this problem as soon as possible. Of course, it seems that I am the only one with this problem so far, and I will continue to observe the running status of the program. -
The fcitx5 author updated fcitx5-gtk and this problem no longer occurs for me.
Please try.https://github.com/fcitx/fcitx5-gtk/commit/1bac6591e967339bc4170cabc5706fdd79521982

Same problem here
-
It seams relate to fcitx-gtk
-
@yswtrue Yes, seems to be a bug in fcitx5.

I also have this problem and I'm also using fctix5. @yutkat mentions that a update for fctix5 fixes the issue. But my system (Kubuntu 22.04) is up to date including backports. Does this mean this issue will remain for non-rolling Linux distributions for the time being until they receive a major update?

@stalpomi The bug got a fix in source but not published in all distributions yet. You have to wait until Kubuntu gest it.
