I cannot download anything using Vivaldi.
-
I have not been able to find anything downloaded with Vivaldi. The downloads show in Vivaldi but I can't find them in my computer. Also, in settings, I can't designate where the downloads should be placed, I prefer on the desktop but the download site in settings does not show any place. They are not in my download folder in My Documents and are not on the desktop.

Right click on the file in downloads inside side panel and click "Open file location"

@Gwen-Dragon:
1. In Explorer open %USERPROFILE%\Desktop
2. Select Path in adressbar
3. Copy Path to clipboard with Ctrl C
4. In Vivaldi open vivaldi://settings/downloads/ for Download setting
5. Paste path into field for download folder
6. Close settings
May be you have to restart VivaldiOn my Windows the downloads are stored on Desktop now.
I can't paste the path, it won't go in.

Right click on the file in downloads inside side panel and click "Open file location"
When I right click I get "open file" but nothing happens to open the download.
-
I meant click "Open containing folder".

Neither of the recommended methods worked - I can't open any download because I can't find where it is downloaded to. I would like all downloads to go to my desktop and I have indicated that in the settings but nothing goes there.
I have searched my computer and cannot find any of the downloads indicated in Vivaldi, perhaps that is why I can't see them - they are not downloaded, even though Vivaldi says that they are. I used "search" for them and they are nowhere to be found. That is why I can't open the download shown in Vivaldi, they are not downloaded!! -
Hi, it seams you are the only user reported this since I use Vivaldi (~ 1 Year).
You can try to set "Open download panel" in settings > downloads.
Vivaldi ask you where it should save on your system.
I use this all the time because I need my downloads in different locations, software to software, images to images for example.
Please add your system specs, OS, Vivaldi version and so forth.Cheers, mib

Why did you not right-click on the icon of the download in the download panel and select "open in containing folder?"

Could security software be blocking your downloads - or blocking opening them?
If not, it would seem you need to try again with a completely clean install (uninstall Vivaldi and rename or remove its folders, install afresh) It appears pretty certain that you are the only person ever to have this problem, so there is something "not right" about your installation, or something on your system is interfering with the download process.

That is exactly what I thought of doing, probably a corruption somewhere.

Oh, geeze. Gwen-Dragon noticed something I completely overlooked. Your default download location just shows "Desktop," not the actual path to your desktop - which means you are trying to download to a non-existent location. The browser should have prevented you from saving that value, just as it does when you select a homepage destination which is not an actual address. But if you are trying to save to "Desktop" (not even c://desktop) then when the browser finishes downloading the file, it has no place to put it, and so probably will basically simply erase it.

That did the trick - I cleared all Vivaldi data and uninstalled Vivaldi and reinstalled it and now it works as it should have.. Previously it would not let me install the correct path to the desktop, it would only list "desktop" which I know is incomplete. After reinstallation, the download box has c:\Users….., as it should.
Apparently I had another corruption in the installation, the prior one would not let me open Vivaldi at all.
I hope this is the last of the corrupt files.
Thanks, everyone, for their help and advice. -
@saudiqbal hi, i found that in my case, the download tab on the left would show that the download order is understood or recorded , but no download is occuring.
i solved this by logging into my microsoft onedrive, the location of the folder it is downloading into.
