Unable to add Gmail account
-
Was able to add my Gmail by permitting access by "less secure" app. Works well. Gmail balks if they think one isn't as secure as they are.
-
@PC64 Didn't help for me unfortunately.

I'll put the answer I had for this again here in case anyone misses it...
Since Google has not yet accepted our mail client as a 'Secure App' (despite a very long standing request), but that should hopefully change soon, so we only have 100 users of OAuth accounts at the moment.
there are two ways at the moment as alternatives to OAuth.
Option 1 (with two-factor auth): For this to work you will need to setup an App Password. For this to work I believe you have to have two-factor authentication set up.
Option 2 (without two-factor auth): Alternatively, you can go to myaccount.google.com/lesssecureapps and allow access to 'less secure' apps to use your normal password.
Maybe this will help @gromodzilla and @Fisher007

@gmg hello. Is there any changes with google since January?
-
@gromodzilla Yes, there is. OAuth is working now
Here's a thread.
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/56798/oauth-is-now-working-for-all-gmail/10?_=1622042936440It's actually working for Calendar too, just hasn't been mentioned in the thread
-
@gmg is there any steps on how to configure it properly?
-
@gromodzilla managed to get it working, with snapshot build. When added gmail account, it asks for app-specific password, or OAuth. No such dialog in stable build.

Hi there -
I'm having issues adding my work's GSuite gmail account with a custom domain. We use SSO and it seems I can't authenticate or choose OAuth2 as an option for the account. Is this possible yet? I'm using 4.0.2312.27 (Stable channel) stable (64-bit) on Fedora 34. Tried editing the Prefs file manually as mentioned in that other thread, and the syntax looked correct but Vivaldi said the Prefs were corrupt.
Thanks!

Same issue here, but note that it works from my home machine, but not from work. So something must be blocking it at some level (proxy/firewall?).
It's a standard gmail address, but when I try to connect, it fails after only about a second with "Autodiscovery failed. Please enter server settings".
If I check "Turn on IMAP Logs in Console" under Mail Settings, I get this in the console:
FWIW, I've enabled "less secure app access" in my google settings.
Does anyone know how I can work around this? Thanks.

I am getting the same issue with the custom domain hosted by Google
Try using OAuth checkbox, but the Gmail login popup will disappear right after I click Next button.

What Vivaldi version are you using?
(There was an old version of Vivaldi where the extensions were messing with the OAuth popup dialog, so temporarily disabling them worked.) -
i cannot add any gmail mail account via oauth, always the same error (entering password in goggle oauth popup is no problem):
using newest stable build.. -
@schreck, have you been able to add your Gmail account to Vivaldi Mail since posting the issue or are you still encountering the same error?
Make sure that you're on the latest browser version when testing again as fixes and improvements are added with every release. -

when im entering my gmail mail, it pops up asking, if i want to use oath.
clicking yes results in the error. its also not asking for my password?
when im adding all manually its the same.logging into gmail via web is working without problems.

Ok, a few question here...
- Do you have the Google Services Token enabled in settings?
- Are there any extensions/antivirus or something blocking the OAuth window from popping up?
- Does it work on a clean profile? (You can see how to set one up and switch between them here)
Alternative:
If all else fails you can always use an App Password (see this help page section)Alternative Option – App password (needs two-factor authentication)
For this to work you will need to set up an App Password in your Google account settings. You have to have two-factor authentication set up as well. Once you have the password you can just fill this in when the password prompt appears in the setup with the option to use App-Specific Password. - Do you have the Google Services Token enabled in settings?
-
- yes. otherwise i couldnt log in via web with same vivaldi session!?
- the oath window asking if i want to use oath? i said it before that its popping up, but not asking for password. can i reset this somehow completely?
- no.
and no, i dont want to enable 2-way authentication everywhere, only because oath doesnt work properly in vivaldi!
the error should tell, why this is not working or where the flaw here is with vivaldi? "server responded with [object object]" ??
why doesnt this work?? -
anyone knows how to find out what EXACTLY doesnt work here??
waited 5 years for the email client and then i cannot use it!!?
-
@schreck
Are you using Pop3 with oauth? I noticed that was allowed, but not implemented yet.
If using OAuth use Imap.Another option is that an anti-virus is interfering.
Is this the same on another computer?
-
@gmg
normal imap. not using anti-virus only firewall, but disabling it also no change.
and dont have another pc, even if, i want to use this on my pc..and also the point, that im logged in via gmail web gui without problem!
isnt there a way to log this and get the exact gmail error??
i mean object/object error, what does this mean?..also, oauth popup is not asking me for a pw anymore? can i reset this somehow?
-
it seams that the whole problem is, that the password is not sent?
you have to enter it in the "my long save password" field, right?
i tried this with 2 accounts, no dice..
