App startup time.

The start up time for the Vivaldi browser is ridiculously slow. It takes about a good 3 seconds to start up.
-
On my desktop machine used for browsing (Dualcore CPU) Vivaldi takes 5 seconds to reopen (after being closed and still in memory cache).
A Vivaldi cold start on my SSD-based Atom netbook takes a ridiculous 15 seconds, and 13 for reopening. Opera 12 OTOH is ready within 5 seconds (cold) and reopens within 3 seconds. Which is not snappy either, but acceptable. For comparison: SoftMaker Office 2012 cold-launches within 2-3 seconds on the same machine. Remember those times, when office suites used to be huge resource hogs?
Conclusion: Vivaldi on a baseline desktop feels like Opera 12 on a slow netbook.

 You could always go and make some more coffee while you're waiting.

Compared to chrome startup time is really slow. For fastidious chrome users like me its a reason to prefer the google browser. Please work on this.

Hi, you are right it is slower than Chrome for example.
I am just curious how often you start your browser?
I start the whole system including file manager, Vivaldi and some more in 3 seconds from hibernate to disk (SSD).Cheers, mib

Have you tried clearing your browser cache/cookies/site data/etc.?
Those useless files could potentially bog down vivaldi and make it slow….
It's worth a shot.... -
My startup times were measured with a mint Vivaldi 1.0 install, while Opera 12 has to load a 150 MB profile. Even then it wins.

I start the whole system including file manager, Vivaldi and some more in 3 seconds from hibernate to disk (SSD).On my SSD-powered devices, hibernation takes longer than cold-booting the OS. Intel first had to invent "Rapid Start" to remedy that.
In a cold boot scenario Vivaldi basically doubles the time until a device is ready for browsing the web. -
