Extensions
-
I love Vivaldi and want to keep using it as my primary browser, however, I am having real problems with the only extensions I use. I use three every day that in Vivaldi either do not work at all or are glitchy. 1. Pocket - Neither the extension nor the website work in Vivaldi. The extension does nothing while I am unable to log in to the site using my Google creds. It goes to a blank page and never loads. 2. Nimbus Screenshot and Screencast - This extension allows me to capture the screen in different ways. It's great for sending bugging issues and more. Unfortunately, it doesn't work at all. 3. Checker Plus for Gmail - Allows for the maintenance of multiple gmail accounts. This one is glitchy at best. It mostly works, but when deleting an email, it blinks twice and reloads to show the deletion. Sometimes the window opens up at about 10px x 10px which makes it unusable and forces me to close Vivaldi and restart it. I appreciate that Vivaldi is opening the options of using Chrome Extensions, but at least in my experience, none of them work as they should. The Pocket website (www.getpocket.com) not working is a concern beyond that. Still love the browser and really try to resist going back to Chrome at all costs, but without those extensions working, it's a struggle.

I figured it was something that might get cleaned up over time, I just wanted to post it so it's out there.
I have hope…

@Gwen-Dragon:
The devs are working on some extension fixes. Lets wait and hope.
Thanks for the information. I just installed the latest snapshot and added a few extensions for convenience (such as one to create screenshots within the browser), but neither of those I tried was working.
Is there already a bug report filed for that issue and if so, is there a way for users to follow that?

Just to add to the discussion, the Pocket website works perfectly for me but the "save to Pocket" extension refuses to log in.
Other than that, an issue here and there to get everything working right (apparently it wasn't because of Vivaldi though), and I miss being able to uninstall an extension by right-clicking on it's button; but everything's working more or less as expected. On the subject of capture tools, OneNote's Webclipper extension seems to work fine though. It does use a different identification system…

Same here …
Having a full page screenshot extension with annotation capabilities (like Nimbus) is crucial for my work. I really hope for the issues being solved, because it's my last reason for still using other browsers. -
does anyone know how to export extensions, bookmarks, history, passwords, etc from chrome or firefox to vivaldi. i'm runnng w 10 x 32 pro
-
You should be able to use Vivaldi Menu: File->Import Bookmarks and Settings
-
thx for help but i have had to uninstall it. the browser is extremely complicated, non functional and hard to manage absolutely every feature i have had dealt with it: bookmarks icons, extensions etc. i'm totally disappointed, haven't seen something so hard and complicate to manage. it doesn't have potential. needs funcionality. chrome is much much easier to handle. you cant even compare it. vivaldi looks like bad version of opera and opera is zero.

Right now almost all my extensions don't work. I can't click on them to open them up or use them. Although they do not open up, some of them like ublock are still working in the background removing ads and stuff.
But those that require to be opened to use like lastpass and pocket do not work. I would really appreciate it if there was a fix coming up for this.

Problems with these extensions have been reported and ARE being investigated by the devs. So keep an eye out for updates.
(just don't hold your breath - no guarantees if next update or later). -
Thanks everyone for sharing your insights and experience with extensions. Sorry to those who are having issues with them using Vivaldi.
We just created a new section on the forum specially dedicated so we're moving the thread over there so that the dev team can have an easy overview of all your issues and can tackle them asap. Thank you for being patient with us! :cheer:

Looking forward to a fix to the downloads router extension as well. One of my favorite chrome additions. Vivaldi would get major kudos if they integrated this natively, doesn't make sense that browsers don't already give you this option. The way Google Inbox integrates previous bundle locations would be great for new downloads, i.e: a context menu with previous download locations. Anyway to upvote feature requests?

Much better than an extensión is a tiny utÃlity, named Postimage. It intercept PrntScr and Shift PrntScr, for part of screen or full screen capture, had tools for editing image and a own host for uploading and share with a click (give html, code, BBcode and directlink). Can browse and share images from your HD.
Very fast and small size

i got pocket to work, a specific way. go to vivaldi://apps. if you click on pocket a window will appear, but vivaldi and the window crash before you can log in.
click on pocket icon, but open it as a new tab. i have no ides why or how this works. i would be interested to learn. pocket created an icon on my system's list of applications (fedora 24). if i click on that icon, it won't work. if i right click on icon and select 'open new window' it will open a blank vivaldi browser. i haven't tested method on other systems, and i still need a more elegant way to save things to pocket.
