A quick fix to the previous snapshot – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2355.3
-
What's the proper way of adding the snapshot branch repo to apt (if it's possible at all)? It's described here, but only applies to stable: https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/install-update/manual-setup-vivaldi-linux-repositories/ . Tried substituting "stable" for "snapshot" (paths to the repo look identical), but then apt complains that there's no release file for that repo.
P.S. Sorry this is not directly related to this snapshot.

For the past few snapshots (this one included) I've noticed some CPU spikes on Linux - i.e. Vivaldi will jump on one core and won't let go until I forcefully kill the vivaldi-snapshot process. It's not noticeable in sluggishness of the browser itself and I can't link it to a specific action; checking from Vivaldi's (Chromium's) Task Manager I think it was the Browser process last time I saw this, but I'm not sure. How can I help narrow this down to (hopefully) get it to a proper bug report?

Maybe it is interesting for the devs: I checked again and the last version that does not crash on my laptop is v2345.3. All three snapshot versions after that one (beginning with command chains) do crash after 20 seconds or so.
I got the crashes again because auto update keeps installing the newest version in the background. So after a browser restart the issues returned. Since this is a snapshot that is ok for me but please try to fix this.
The last time I had somewhat more severe issues with Vivaldi was when e-mail, calendar and such where introduced. The cause for that was a rather old user profile: I am running my Vivaldi installation from the very first snapshot (2015) on. Maybe this kind of information might be useful for you devs?

Is Sync still disabled on this version; and has the corruption bug been fixed yet? I have recently disabled Sync on my Vivaldi Snapshot install and used a stable version to reset my Remote Data; and I wondered if after installing this build, whether it'd be safe to re-enable sync?
-
@guigirl: Thank you for your reply. I don't use VivaldiHooks. I didn't even know about them until just now. Unfortunately, all the things you suggested do not change anything. Also the messages in the terminal emulator remain the same.

If I understood correctly, another bug like this happened in the previous snapshot, so you might need another reset, but it should work fine after that. It works for me, however I think I noticed some folders in the root reshuffling for me. If I assume nothing is missing (looks like it), it should be fine.

The problem could be related to https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1221442&q=systemd&can=1.

I've been playing with command chains and tiled tabs for a little bit now. What I'd really like is to create a side-by-side tiled tab arrangement where all links clicked in the LEFT tab open in the RIGHT tab. Or even just make background/middle click links in the LEFT tab all open on the RIGHT tab.
This is basically a "destination tab" or "follower tab" functionality. Is this possible with a javascript bookmarklet like function? What I'd really want to do is make a command chain to set this up and then I'd use it all the time.

Same here. I just updated my Manjaro ARM installations today and am getting a white window/rectangle (but no working browser).

Latest stable version of vivaldi seems not to be affected and works still flawlessly.Additional information:
- I can reproduce the problem on both KDE & XCFE editions of Manjaro ARM.
-
For me there's no difference with the mentioned command-line switches -> the problem (white window) persists.
-
Indeed, so I hope that some v-dev sees the origin of the problem and gets out a quick fix
