Spam from MSN
-
This page from Microsoft News Network just opened in Vivaldi for no known reason.
Why do I get this spam at all? I have never noticed it before.
-
@pesala maybe malicious addon?
-
@stardust Microsoft Windows? I cannot avoid that one unfortunately.
I only use two extensions: WordWeb and the Vivaldi Forum Mod.
-
-
@catweazle I do not have Bing search, but I do have the Microsoft Bing Translator as a web panel. Only essential cookies are allowed for that.
-
Doesn't even have to be triggered from Vivaldi itself. A program on the system could have launched the url in the default browser, just happened to be vivaldi.
-
@pesala , I use IM translator extension, which include Google, Bing and a own one, but it don't cause any cookies. But yes, at least for inglish translation, Bing is some better than Google.
I rhink that is related to the privacy settings in Windows itself, no in Vivaldi.
Anyway a scan with AdwCleaner isn't a bad idea. -
@pesala Probably a windows bug, accidentally opened page from windoze news.
The page isn’t advertising anything so it’s probably not a big deal.
-
This spam arrived again today, but I cannot find the setting to disable it. I assume it is a “feature” of MS Windows.
-
@pesala , right click on the Task bar,
-
@catweazle It must have been a Windows update that turned it on. There was an icon there (for Open on Hover). I removed it now.
-
@pesala yesterday it updated from 20H2 to 21H1, no changes in settings.
-
@gwen-dragon , not with me, I stopped my Windows from these bad habits right from the start.
-
Same here, with the last update appears :
The post from @Catweazle delete it.
-
@Catweazle You recommend WPD and Optimizer.
Which is better? or you use both?
-
@barbudo2005 Personally I think Linux is better
-
@pesala It is an automatic redirect for me when I logout of Hotmail.
-
@greybeard I don't use Hotmail. Only vivaldi.net and Gmail.
-
@barbudo2005 , are different, WPD is good in privacy setting, more complete in this aspect, but in general Optimizer has more functions that also cover other aspects, including the manipulation of local hosts with blocker filters, apart from being FOSS. I think than these. they are complementary Be careful with the local host configuration, if you do not know exactly what you are doing, you can run out of internet

Hotmail was my first webmail account, before the millennium.
