gmail asking for password every time i restart vivaldi.
-
Every time i restart vivaldi one gmail account will ask to sign in again.
it's only one of the 3 accounts i have in Mail.
any ideas what is the issue?
-
@zikkeratak That would be the cookie you need to stay logged in, being blocked from being saved for some reason.
-
this is on the mail panel in vivaldi, there is no option for cookies in the login page of gmail.
this is in vivaldi mal manager application...
-
@zikkeratak Weird. Never ran into that. Does your login data disappear from the mail client?
-
Whit mail client i mean the vivaldi mail manager (the thunderbird of vivaldi)
a pop up asking me to log in again from the gmail page is what i mean, and yes it just disapears.
di you understand what em i talking about?
this is the mail manager in vivaldi panel M3
-
@zikkeratak The English tech term for what you are calling a "mail manager" is "mail client." That's what the mail handler in Vivaldi is, a mail client.
So what you are seeing is the OAuth popup from Google asking you to sign in, indicating that for some reason the signed-in status for that account is not persistent from session to session. It should be, unless you are going a week or two in between Vivaldi Sessions. Are you using the Vivaldi mail client daily? Or going a long period without it being logged in?
Also - you mentioned this was one of three accounts. Is it the only one that is a GMail account? If it's your only GMail account, I may have a solution for you.
-
everyday usage, as i state is 3 gmail accounts but only this one is having issues.
-
@zikkeratak OK. There is a setting in the mail client, that enables you to turn off OAuth for Gmail. It allows you to use the "app password" protocol to bypass OAuth and may keep you logged in.
If you go to the problem account and open the "servers" tab, can you see that?
-
That did the tirck!!
but gmail make such a F*** fuzz about it, saying it was less secure shoting down my account till i logged in and turn on manually "less secure app" access.
wtf is wrong with them?
anyway thanx for the tip, this solve the issue.
-
@zikkeratak Yay!
-
That happens to me too and is very frustrating... I think that the cookie that is used to the mail thing of gmail is SHARED with the browsing itself. That's a big problem. Any dev can confirm this?
-
This also happens to ne despite turning off OAuth.
Every time I open mail I have to sign in to all my gmail accounts, just not worth the effort.
Lets hope this beta version improves.
-
@oldsalt I never have to sign in. There may be something in your settings that causes this (session-only cookies or something, for instance). Also, some reg cleaners or similar programs nuke your cookies when you log out.

This is what get with all 5 gmail accounts.
Error: Login for outgoing server failed. Server responded with: Username and Password not accepted. Learn more at hhtps://support.google.com/mail/?p=BadCredentials k136sm6231865pfd.87 - gsmtp
-
@oldsalt Not a problem here. Does not happen. Are you sure you are using the proper password/port#/user combo?
-
Just turned on use less secure apps, now to see if that works.
-
@oldsalt That's a common fix.
-
Got it, all good now, thanks for the help.
