closed window, not in trash can menu

I think it's a display bug. after i opened and closed a few more tabs i found it in the middle of the list
Not sure if you close the bug report, on the one hand i had some bug, on the other i had no logs of documentation and the problem is solved... what's the policy for this?
-
@shemtovo Without a clear recipe it is hard to reproduce bugs. If it happens again, try to notice exactly what happened so that you can provide a worthwhile bug report.
-
@shemtovo did you try the windows panel?
-
i did, it wasn't in the windows panel as well

worthwhile bug report
not sure if that's the additude you want to show your community, but i'll assume it's a lingual/cultural oddness. i'll try and create better documentation next time...
what is the right thing to send? is there a log somewhere?
-
@shemtovo knowing Pesala, not an attitude problem I think it's meant as "with a good description of what you did and experienced, this is certainly worth a bug report given a recipe on how you reproduce the problem "... In other words we can't solve your problem just with tips and experience using the program
-
@shemtovo Please don't take this personally, but a lot of users don't have a clue how to report bugs. I get told off by Gwen sometimes for my bug reports because I missed something. Defective bug reports just get closed as "Invalid" or "Cannot Reproduce."
The forum is the first port of call, which is why the Help menu tells users to report issues here first. Experienced Vivaldians can often solve those bugs that occur between the chair and the keyboard. If we cannot diagnose the cause between us, at least we can narrow down the options so that the users can make a better bug report.
Bug Report Tips: (Irony)
- Start off by swearing at the idiots who wrote this bug fest
- Never post a link to the site where the crash occurred. At most, give a cryptic clue — its more fun for the developers.
- Everyone uses Windows 10, so there is no need to tell anyone what OS you're using. If it is a bug that doesn't occur on Windows 10 then its not worth fixing.
- Don't bother to check your hard drive for malware or viruses. Only paranoid wimps use diagnostic system tools.
- Be brief. Don't tell anyone what you were doing at the time.
- When filing bugs, always send a crash report, but make sure its the wrong one. Don't give too much away at first.
- File at least two or three more bug reports with different details, just in case the first got lost in cyber-space
- Demand that it be fixed yesterday, and if it is not that you're going back to your previous program and won't ever use this one again
- Every time a new version comes out, download it just to see if your pet bug was fixed
-
@pesala shoot now I will need to ask how many of my bug reports were closed as invalid....
-
@wildente "Invalid" is a very rare assignment. It usually means that the complained-of behavior is intended. It's as-designed.
-
@wildente i figured that this is what was meant, but this is not what "worthwhile" means.
Anyhow, i still do not know how to report this in the future, i've had a similar thing happen before, where do i get the logs? is there a template you use here? -
@wildente That was not what I meant.
From what shemtovo has reported so far, it is not obvious that there is any bug here at all. It could just be user error. If the "closed" window showed up later, then perhaps it was never closed in the first place, which would explain why it did not show up in the Trash menu. There are reasons why a window won't be closed when clicking on the X. If a download is in progress, for example. Or a mis-click could bring another window to the front.
Whatever, we are all just guessing what might have happened.
If the alleged bug can be reproduced, then a worthwhile bug report should be filed. If not, without a clear recipe to reproduce the bug, any report would most likely lead nowhere, and would just waste the developers' time.
Bug-hunting is very time-consuming. If the issue has resolved itself, then it is best to move on, and see if it recurs. If it does, then it is worth looking a bit closer to try to find the cause.
Even the basics are missing: Windows version and Vivaldi version. Number of windows open, extensions installed, etc. There won't be any crash logs unless Vivaldi crashed.

I stand corrected but will stay firm in my statement that you don't have an attitude problem. Don't prove me wrong by correcting my interpretation again
