-
Today’s snapshot fixes an regression where our Windows users could not uninstall. However, remember that just because you can now do something, that does not mean you should.

@ruarí Regarding: [Windows] Uninstall of Vivaldi fails (VB-80004) I thought it was a feature...
-
@3630 Well I guess arguably it would help with user retention. I mean, we can't lose users if they cannot uninstall
But no we are not that mean. It was simply a bug

The newest Snapshot an Desktop has also the Bug that the Translation Popup comes although I have completely deactivated the translations feature in the settings, when is it fixed? with Snapshot 3.9 it works fine
This doesnt work it doesnt save my changeIs this an known Bug nobody let me know
With Version 3.9 it works fine with any Version 4 notPls help btw let me know
-
@lotzi Yes, it is a new feature so there will be numerous bugs. For me, the popup fails to appear on first opening a page in the Local Languages forum. Refreshing the page shows the dialog. Translating the page works, but visiting another page does not translate and offers the option to revert to the forum language.
Reverting (to Italian) then offers the option to translate the page, which works OK.

I think it cantr be to difficult to fix the bug that the User can activate or deactivate the Translation Feature and then it must work
But it did not work with any Version 4.0I just want if I want to turn off the translation feature that it stays out all the time and does not ignore that I want to turn it off, I also don't understand why the DEV team doesn't even say something with every version 4.0 it doesn't work with version 3.9 it is it is so difficult to recreate the bug?
-
@lotzi It never ceases to amaze me how users expect the developers to reproduce a bug without providing any relevant information, then expect an instant response even if they do provide a clear recipe and all necessary info. Some bugs are very hard to reproduce, and it is usually because the reporter failed to include something relevant like using a CSS mod, or an extension that they use.
Some trouble-shooting threads run to three pages or more before the volunteers finally discover the missing piece of the jigsaw puzzle.
I found that the translation feature stays off if I restart Vivaldi after disabling it. Then it stays on when I enable it, but there may be exceptions.
Have you reported a bug yet? What is the bug number? What is your OS?
-
I didnt report it i write it in the Forum to the actually Snapshot Thread
Win 10 Pro 21H1 x64 is my OSI wish i only can get an confirm that is bug exist nothing more
and how to adjust the bug I wrote when I deactivate the feature in the settings and close the browser and then restart it, it is activated again not difficult to adjust

It does NOT happen to me on Linux! No, works for me in my Win10 64bit as well. I have the setting enabled, I go to a japanese site, Vivaldi pops up the translation requester. I deactivate the setting to offer translation, close the tab and Vivaldi. Then I reopen Vivaldi, go back to the japanese site, no translation popup appears as intended. The setting is off as it was before closing the browser. Set the option on again, closing and reopening Vivaldi, the setting is on.
I suspect @lotzi profile needs a refresh, it could be corrupted. If that's the case, this is really something that should be addressed with a proper profile refresh tool by the devs, as it happens too frequently. -

Yes, this is a must.

Just started up the latest SnapShot to realize that the additional search field has been dumped.
So instead of clicking once and start typing the actual thing I'd like to look for into the search panel I now need to additionally adjust the cursor position after I already instructed the thing to let me type my search into a designated field. Why did you guys think this is a smarter move in the first place and what was the thought process behind it? It wouldn't bother me this much if I'd at least had the option to still have a static field instead of this half baked hovering misaligned panel.

You guys seem to go the ol´ Mozilla route were you already have a solid design and forcefully try to modernize at the cost of readability and or even add blank spaces. Is this the next step after the visual downgrade to the eye pleasing design the previous Paneel had by removing one additional layer of contrast? The Paneel Ribbon now seamlessly melts into the content wich is god awful to look at and even a worse eyesore if you have notes up all the time due to how you want to utilize the browsers capabilities.

In direct comparison even the iconography is way worse cause at 100% scaling notes and add Web-Paneel are look very similar in 4k due to pixel line width. I honestly wish I could go back to the previous design.

Actually, you do not. Just click the magnifying glass and start typing. Focus is already in the Search field. The button save space, with one more click needed if you want to change the search engine.
I also prefer the line between the toolbar and the panel, but aesthetics is a personal thing. Ask in the Modding Vivaldi and maybe someone can tell you how to restore it.
