Recent changes (new SQL database?) might have fixed feeds issues
-
I have noticed a bit less duplication of articles in recent weeks... BBC news still regularly repopulates the exact same article every hour or two, but I suspect their system might create "new" articles every time they rearrange the headlines.
I wondered if the recent change to the database in the mail module has made some improvements.
The other big issue I had when I first started using feeds in Vivaldi was that a fully-deleted feed article would always come back with the next refresh. I had got into the habit of leaving them in the trash and turning the feeds filter off in the trash view so I didn't see them any more.
So just now I decided to test this - I switched the filter to show feeds in the trash again (11 thousand articles there), cleared the trash and reloaded the feeds. So far (cross-fingers) I haven't seen large numbers of articles being resurrected like they used to be.
I am sure that some of the feeds (e.g. podcasts) have items still available which were originally published months ago, and that these used to reappear whenever I deleted them from the trash in the past. That behaviour has not repeated so far after clicking the reload buttons a few times, closing and opening Vivaldi and deleting a handful of new articles which came in.
So far so good...

probably your thread is not the first thread about reappearing deleted feeds but the only one, the forum search found (for me) (because I noticed this bad behaviour since introducing mail/rss modul)did this error came back to you? because I did this as you
I had got into the habit of leaving them in the trash and turning the feeds filter off in the trash view so I didn't see them any more.
I had the same behaviour as you but sometimes it comes over me and I empty the trashbin
but everytime some(!) of the feeds come back as you described above (vlc news for example)
and that's really annoying (ok, I just updated to the newest snapshot, but I didn't test this bug yet -
There is another thread about problems with deleting mail items... Related? I could not reproduce the other problem, just like I have never seen what you describe here. Join forces and hunt that bug

@derday since my previous post I haven't had old articles being re-fetched en masse if I delete the trash, no. For me that bug is definitely fixed.
I do still get some old articles reappearing, but I suspect it has something to do with how websites populate the feed as it only occurs for certain feeds. BBC is particularly bad as it seems to re-post the same set of headlines every fifteen minutes.

Ironically - yesterday a number of feeds started showing articles in duplicate or triplicate, and this morning after a reboot all my podcast feeds had reset to show all podcasts since the beginning. Very odd.

thanks for your feedback. I was in vacation since first july and when I came back today, all deleted feeds are downloaded again (before I went away, I emptied my trash)
some are duplicated too, as you mentioned itwhat a fu**ing annoying bug ️ from now on I will let the trashbin grow up to the moon

I still see duplicates and triplicates every once in a while as well.
Usually happens only on browser restart... -
@pauloaguia
I close my vivaldi and shutdown my computer every day (no hibernate, real shutdown) -
