We've updated the Forum to NodeBB's (forum software provider) latest version 1.17.
What's new:
- For those who use infinite scroll, there's now a topic navigator in the bottom right corner of the page.
- When you have a category open, search will show results from that category and subcategories). Requested by our community member.
- It's now possible to flag users in addition to single posts.
- Edits to posts inside watched topics now send notifications.
Plus some other smaller changes.
-
@jane-n The blue Reply button disappeared from the bottom of threads.
-
I like these changes
-
-
When we don’t use infinite scroll, the topic navigator still shows.
-
The color of the user field has changed, but the numbers are still unreadable:
-
In expanded chats the header is still partly hidden:
Otherwise I like the changes so far.
-
-
@jane-n , nice, but I missed the respond button, I can only respond using the button to reply or quote another user
-
@catweazle The Reply button is at the top.
-
@pesala , yes, but not very logic in long threads, like in "Post your color scheme", have to scroll up for posting at the end.
-
The bottom would seem to be a better place for the Reply button (and other thread control buttons), unless you're encouraging people to respond before reading other posts. Of course, it could be both at the top and bottom.
I also would think that simply numbering the posts would be better than a very large navigation bar at the bottom, though it does have advantages should you want to skim a page quickly.

Those Topic controls should be on both sides, top and bottom.
-
I’m not a fan of the narrow post editor.

That’s a good thing, innit?

A sticky one would be the best (IMO).
-
@paul1149 , agree, but reading a whole thread with more than 1000 posts is impossible, it don't make sense a respond button at the top of a thread.
-
Hmm, I don’t seem to be getting the pop-up notifications, only the number next to the bell icon changes.
-
@potmeklecbohdan I didn’t judge it, but in OP it says “for those who use infinite scroll.”
-
-
Given this forum’s categories system, the single-item category path of a topic can get confusing. (How do you differentiate, let’s say, a thread in Troubleshooting / Vivaldi services and a thread in Feature requests / Vivaldi services, without knowing how the icons differ?)
Oh, & just to add more to all the issues, I cannot access post edit history anymore. Is this intentional?

Fixed.
-
@jane-n I like this fix ^^
-
@potmeklecbohdan It is intentional, we can still access edit history on the modifications board.
-
@luetage Damn.
