Close button on tabs not visible sometimes.

Sometimes the close button does not show up when I try to close a tab, I have to mouse the mouse outside and inside the tab again to see the close button.

This has been a "feature" of the Vivaldi UI since the very beginning. I'd love to see them fix it, because having to slide the cursor around to cause the button to appear wastes time…

Really? I can't remember to have seen this behaviour. For a long time (at least it's feeling like that) the close button vanishes on tabs, if they become smaller because of growing in number or because of shortening the tab bar (resizing the Vivaldi window).
I can't be sure if it happens with tabs on top or bottom, but I know it happens with tabs to the side. You slide your cursor onto the tab to cause the "x" to appear so you can click it, and sometimes it does appear, and sometimes not. If you then slide the cursor off and back on in another direction, the "x" then appears. It's not a problem of the tabs growing too narrow, as they don't change size when on the side. It's just a glitch in the code.

I never have more few tabs on my wide screen and it happens all the time on my tabs.

Meanwhile you can use the keyboard shortcut to close the tabs, as for open a new one.
It is a lot easier and faster. -

It is a lot easier and faster.…Unless, of course, your life habit for the last twenty years of using browsers is to never use a keyboard shortcut, ever, for anything.

Just filed another bug report cuz I cant remember if I filed a bug report on this or not. Bug tracker needs to be public,.

Old bug still not fixed, please fix it. Close button still not visible sometimes, I have to move the mouse outside the tab and back to get the close button.
-
Still not fixed, close button still not visible when I want to close a tab.
-
Frankly don't face this behavior
Whatever… remember that the middle button is way more practical than the close button

So many ways to close a tab, but people still use the hardest method — aim the mouse cursor precisely at a few square pixels at the top of the window and click.
Assign a mouse gesture, e.g. GestureLeft, GestureDown, GestureRight (C) or a shortcut key (Ctrl W), or middle-click the tab, or enable double-click to close tab.
Mouse gestures should not be too easy to perform by accident for some tasks like this. I have GestureDown, GestureUp to reopen a closed tab.

Just a bug that needs to be fixed. Its an old habit since Opera 5 and I m used to it, specially on laptop where I always use touch pad to move the mouse to get the close button to close the tab, and its not there sometimes. Its also not the hardest method, its the easiest, just mouse the mouse there and click it.

@HarryH:
"It is a lot easier and faster." Not for me it's not.
Well, it soon would be if you used it for a week or two, especially as you can assign your own preferred gesture to the command now.
For keyboard users, Ctrl W is really easy and needs only the left hand, so you don't even need to take your hand off of the mouse.
