How to disable Javascript?
-
I thought it used to be in Settings but now I can't find it. Some pages are so packed with advertising, the only way to get any sanity is to disable Javascript. Or....is it possible to disable something so videos (like background advertising) doesn't play? Maybe some plugins? I can't find how to disable images - nothing comes up when a search is done in Settings.

The settings for content are at: chrome://settings/content

FWIW, a toolbar JavaScript toggle button would make a marvelous addition to Vivaldi… I used such a beast continually with Olde Opera.

Is that the only way to access it?
Why would they not include it in Settings? Its one of the most important adjustments you can make in your browser. Life just flies online if you can do without Javascript. JS is like running with 20 pounds on your back. -

Basically every single aspect of the interface and settings has to be written from scratch, in order for it to have the options and customizations available that the founder has in mind for it. Everything you can do with Chrome settings, AND MORE, will be brought to the UI and the settings of Vivaldi. Patience is key.
For a little perspective, what you refer to as "…one of the most important adjustments you can make..." is something that I, as an amateur techie, sophisticated browser user, and professional who makes his living using the internet, have exactly zero interest in. Each person's perspective is unique. And I'm going to hazard a guess that guys who have been building browsers and consulting user preferences in the process for 20 years have some vague notion how to line up their development priorities.

I support your request.

In the meantime I do use Disable HTML5 Autoplay

Usually in Chrome JS is disabled here:
http://browsers.about.com/od/googlechrome/ss/disable-javascript-chrome-windows.htm#step5
But Vivaldi is just based on Chrome, not 1:1. So that feature obviously was dropped…
Vivaldi team, please add that feature! Let us users disable JavaScript!

The uBlock origin browser extension allows you to easily disable/enable javascript on a specific domain.
