Featurerequest: Mouse wheel zoom
-
Mouse scrollwheel zoom is fixed now, but remember that it is Ctrl + Shift + Scrollwheel to keep MAC users happy. Maybe later we Windows users will be able to use Ctrl + Scrollwheel.
-
it's fairly common (in windows browsers and other text applications) to use the scrollwheel of the mouse in combination with the CTRL key to zoom in and out
I would even prefer holding RMB+scrollwheel for zooming. Love this functionality in Firefox's Firegestures. There is an extension that does it on Chrome, but it's buggy and sluggish (have not tested it on V).
It's great to hear that I am not alone who is using this combination RMB+scrollwheel for zooming!
BTW I am using AHK-script for this in every browser. I hope to see this in vivaldi someday. -
Is that the actual reason of the Ctrl_Shift? it is disappointing to hear that from Vivaldi. Mac users are a minority compared to windows, also why not to implement both ways? and 100% of the users will be happy.

It's true, there are more windows users than linux and mac users, but most power users are on linux and mac
I'm sure they'll make everyone happyI grant you that higher percentage of linux users are power users, but I would really doubt that most (absolute numbers wise) power users are not on windows. Not with the market share the way it is.

sorry i didnt want to initiate a debate about how many users has windows and Linux. The way to attract users is to provide flexibility and customization, whether is a power user or normal user. The point is that in windows it is a common use of Ctrl+Scroll to zoom in/out in all applications. Opera won his position with power users because his beautiful design and options. After thousands of hrs and years of feedback in the opera forums, there is something to learn from it a not start from scratch again. Please bring back the Ctrl + Scroll. for zooming. I still use the old Opera / Presto just because the comfort of the UI.

The change was forced because technical reasons not because the devs decided suddenly to change a well known shortcut.
Hopefully If and when a workaround will be find, the shortcut will be restored.

On Firefox, I always used a rather common extension called image zoom that lets you zoom only images without the entire website by clicking the right mouse button and scrolling.
I'm so used to it that I do that in Vivaldi all the time, so I end up constantly scrolling between my tabs.
I wish Vivaldi had an option to keybind scrolling to mouse buttons only, because there's no extension for Chrome that works like imagezoom. There used to be one, but it doesn't work anymore. -

I am a Windows user and for me it's very important the ability to zoom with Ctrl + Scrollwheel.
I don't know whether I am power user or not according to your criteria, but in all browsers I have used Ctrl + Scrollwheel for zooming.

Totally agree. At the moment Vivaldi is the only Windows browser I can find that DOESN'T support Ctrl+Scroll for zooming. It definitely needs changing.
Thanks for pointing out the Ctrl+Shift+Scroll method, by the way. I would never have thought of it.

Ditto here! I use Ctrl + Scroll a lot. Still would like to use that command but I appreciate it working by addition of the Shift key.
Thank You! -

Actually I thought this feature's just not implemeted yetWell, pretty "unnatural", but still - hey - at least it works somehow

All-in-One gestures for Firefox has a feature where you hold down the button and turn the wheel to zoom.
Firefox itself has a feature where you can zoom only text. It has zoom-in zoom-out and reset buttons you can put on a menu bar. I use those to zoom all the time. When I want to zoom a pic I use AiO gestures. -
