To my eye, nothing there says "Show update settings" button
It is there:
-
@Stardust I don't see the point of hiding the update settings.
-
@Pesala I don't get the point of this setting...
-
@Stardust Wrong Godot.

Ergo, my posted question was legitimate despite your taunt & the answer to my question seems to be "yes, tis a windoze thing".
Progress Score
Snapshot 1, Godot 1.

@Stardust I asked about "Show/Hide Update Settings" when it first appeared in our internal snapshots; the button takes up more space than the one setting that it shows and hides. I never got an answer. Perhaps they have more update settings cooking that are not quite baked yet.

OH, i am a passive observer for years on Vivaldi now, big user in here, have to say that this last 2 patches are amazing, made the Browser feel light, new, stable i dunno, i check my peaks and damn this is a nice job done here. Congrats. Good job done. I cannot think what you can do now to make it better, this is the best browser. Maybe a Vanilla chromium option for those pesky websites and forms that only open on Chrome?, like next to "Icognito" ? aka "Open in vanilla Chrome".

@xyzzy Even if they do have a couple more to add, there's ample precedent elsewhere in Settings for not doing this. There are dozens and dozens of settings all over the place not hidden behind buttons.
-
[FLoC] Remove various references to it from components (VB-78669)
[Menus][Search] Selection context menu option for search engine should have a choice between ‘fixed’ and last selected (VB-78755)
[Menus][Search] Selection context menu option for search engine should be the ‘fixed’ one by default (VB-78872)
Thanks for those.
Now, about that Add Bookmarks dropdown dialog...
- Can you at least give us an option to auto save or not?
- Make the folder of the bookmark be focused, currently there is no way to know where the bookmark is saved without navigating to the folder
- Add back the thumbnail, it can be placed in the show more section. I find thumbnails are not being saved as often as before and I'm not immediately aware of that
-
@xyzzy: it's a simple technical matter. The update notifier is a separate service and if that button wasn't there, it would have to do inter process communication every time settings gets opened, which would have slowed down everything for no good reason.
-
@chas4: a flock of birds you mean?
-
Is it just me? For me the settings part shortcuts for mail is gone...
-
@Popanz No, it is not just for you. The mail shortcuts section is gone; also from the Cheat Sheet (Ctrl+F1).
It is still there in 3.7 Stable if you enable mail in vivaldi://experiments.
-
With all the new stuff around searching, am I the only one still missing a customisable shortcut that can show the 'Search With' menu for selected text?
If it didn't exist multiple times in the Feature Requests forum (some topics dating back to 3 years ago), I would've posted that, but I guess being super spread out across multiple topics instead of being in one topic with a lot of votes makes it lose focus in the end.
-
@killchain Just one of nearly 4,000 feature requests, but not officially made yet as far as I can see. Do you have a link to it?
-
@pesala: This one for example: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/24263/customize-the-opening-of-the-search-with-menu
Also a few others if you search under "Feature Requests" for a query like "search selection": https://forum.vivaldi.net/search?term=search selection&in=titlesposts&matchWords=all&categories[]=185&categories[]=127&categories[]=128&categories[]=195&categories[]=196&categories[]=194&categories[]=129&categories[]=130&categories[]=131&categories[]=132&categories[]=133&sortBy=relevance&sortDirection=desc&showAs=posts

What are you talking about? Vivaldi should look like chrome to websites now. Do you have an example site?
-
@code3: A no longer supported add-on simulating an already killed FF feature.
In a nutshell, it's basically a tab stack, but you can only see one tab stack per window (you can switch anytime the tab stack that are active in the window of course)
