SSL Protocol error {for SMTP}
-
Hello!
My email uses 993 for incoming using SSL/TLS.
SMTP is on 25 using the same settings as incoming. However this seems to be disagreeable to Vivaldi because I'm getting "Login for outgoing server failed. Server responded with: TLS handshake failed. Reason: net::ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Vivaldi 3.8.2238.3 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Company mail server. Sorry I can't be more specific about it. -
@Gwen-Dragon said in SSL Protocol error:
You should use Port 465 or 587.
Yesss let me ask our corporate sysadmin real quick
Port 25 (and others) with StartTLS will be supported in a next 3.8 Snapshot.
Fantastic, will wait then! Thanks!!

@Gwen-Dragon Now the message "Error logging into outgoing server. Server response: TLS handshake failed. Reason: net::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID.
Everything works in the Opera 12.16 mail client, while the "Text" authentication is used for authentication on the incoming POP mail server, and "AUTH LOGIN" is used on the outgoing SMTP mail server. -
Ι don't think I've seen anything related to email in the change logs...

@gryzor In Vivaldi version 3.8.2254.3 the StartTLS protocol was added.

Is it possible to remove the certificate verification for the outgoing mail server? (the existing certificate has expired and the server name does not match the certificate name). After adding a certificate to the list of trusted root certificate authorities, I have the error "ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID" when authenticating on the outgoing mail server.

@diletantEG Oh it works! It actually works Cheers!!!
-
@Gwen-Dragon Unfortunately not, this is a corporate server, but it does seem to be true.
-
@Gwen-Dragon I came with the same issue. Great to know this.
Also, will you support non secure connections? My company email doesn't support SSL/TLS -
@saduran same thing for me, my web provider doesn't supply secured connections on its webmail, and I can't connect with Vivaldi mail.
(I know it's not Vivaldi's fault, my web provider isn't very aware of security concepts!)Anyway I agree with you, hopefully when Vivaldi mail option upgrades from beta version, it will allow non secured connections.
