Tab, menu and Speed Dial fixes – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 2218.3

@kevinar: player works fine on my pc (win10, ublock enabled)

The mail passwords were imported but not used.
Clarification. The importer imports both the SMTP and IMAP login entries from M2, but with the passwords blank. So, something's not right with the code that tries to retrieve the passwords for those entries in wand.dat. (No master password in my case.)
-
@burnout426 No luck here even after two attempts.

The mail accounts are imported as inactive and you will need to activate them when this is done.
This confused me when I imported the first time. It was not expected at all that I would then have to uncheck "local account" in the account's settings. There should be a note about that in the import dialog. Ideally, when things are more stable, when the import is finished, "local account" should be automatically disabled for the account and a check for mail for the account should be automatically triggered.
-
Order of Applications
I think this could be improved. On my system, it defaults to Microsoft Edge Legacy. Since we are using this to import mail, why not default to Opera 12x ?
-
@Pesala Just to be clear, there's no contacts option. They just get imported as part of the "Mail" option I guess. I assume you checked in the contacts panel after the import was finished. Or, does the import never finish?

@jon I am importing from a Standalone version of Opera 12.18. Import in Progress takes a while.
- First attempt rebooted my PC without warning (could be excessive CPU load).
- Second attempt failed
- Third attempt imported mail + one empty account (VB-77637)
- I am now trying again to see if I can get my contacts.
It might be better design to separate contacts import from mail import. Since contacts.adr is a separate file that should be easy enough to implement.
I had been waiting for M2 import so I could start testing - after reading comments here my enthusiasm was dimmed a bit. I would have preferred them to start with generic mbox import so I could begin with some test cases rather than let it loose on my entire database (which I know has some indexing issues) and to avoid exactly the sort of problems people are describing.
But since I just read about the snapshot and it's Sunday morning, I thought I should try anyway. No luck so far (just the circling in the import dialogue). I suspect it's because I had the mail stored on a different drive from the Opera profile data... (which I also tried selecting, of course)
On that topic - the reason for the seperate location was originally because it's a few GB of mail and I preferred to put that on a drive with more space and where it could easily be backed up. This is something I would like to see in Vivaldi as well! M3 burying it in a cryptic subdirectory of a user profile is less than transparent...

@Gwen-Dragon Hum. I've deleted all IRC accounts and feeds and re-imported my mails to O12 in order not to have a broken profile with my history of don't want to know how many accounts originating from Opera 9. Re-import to Opera was about 20-25 minutes. But after waiting for ~4 hours, I have not seen any progress in Vivaldi. Contacts may have been imported, but there were no offline messages to be found.
Most importantly, nothing changed in the
~/.config/vivaldi-snapshot/Default/Mail
folder. Not sure about contacts, but I'm fairly uncertain that anything much happened with the mail at all. -
Tested M2 import with a fresh vivaldi profile.

@luetage: Have you tried it in a text field or a form? Have a look at the screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/hRQViiN
-
@potmeklecbohdan: There is no context-specific one, here is a screenshot https://imgur.com/a/hRQViiN
-
@uhura2000 There is, though named differently (but you can change it)

@potmeklecbohdan The feed panel is just a way to access feeds when you don’t have any mail accounts. Previously you had to at least add one to view and access them. The Mail complete view still works as normal and I don’t use the feed panel. It has one upside though, you can refresh feeds manually with a button, that’s impossible from Mail panel. I think automatic updating of feeds is still broken…
You can do it, you could already add feeds without an email account, the bad thing is that it creates all your email folders but then just uses "Unread", "Received" and "Trash".

Possible bug (confirmation needed) - invisible search engine name on the list in the settings when more than 12 search engines.
I have no problems and i have 24 search engine.
@uhura2000 "Go to...." is missing. Present in version 3.6.
-
@uhura2000 That’s not supposed to work, because it’s not a link. The link context menu only works on link elements (
<a href=
). Now granted, addresses that aren’t link elements can be selected and in the page menu they are handled by theGo to
menu entry and this will open the link. Why theGo to
entry doesn’t show up in text fields I don’t know, but personally I don’t miss it. You’re simply using the wrong tool for the job.edit: And now I know what you did and why it opens
vivaldi.com
. You took theOpen Link
entry from the commands sesction and put it in the text field menu. But the open link command doesn’t open given links, it enables you to put links in menus. You drag it over and then you enter an address and that address will be available from the menu. When you don’t change the address of theOpen Link
command it will default tovivaldi.com
and this is what you are experiencing. Just delete the entry, it cannot do what you want. What you can do is write a feature request to make the
Go to
command available in the text field menu. -
@potmeklecbohdan: Thanks for checking! I tried all text field and selection related menu modifications: the menu in my screenshot does not change.
Also: I didn't modify any menu before the update, it just stopped working by showing "Open link" instead of "Go to $1". Maybe this context menu is not modifiable at the moment? -
@uhura2000 Since you have that additional open link that definitely isn’t there by default, you must have edited the menu (it’s web page/selection).

-
@potmeklecbohdan Yeah, because it needs the selection anyway. Nothing to do here but keep everything as is…
-
@luetage: Thanks for the answer! This is not about the link context menu. It's about the selection context menu in text entry fields (like in Wordpress). It worked before. I use it to check copied (text format) links before posting them. Now I have to copy and paste them in a new tab manually.
"And now I know what you did [...]": I didn't change anything before this update (it was broken in the the update before this one). The "Open link" entry just appeared (and the "Go to $1" disappeared).
"but personally I don’t miss it": well, unfortunately I'm not youFun fact: it works perfectly in Chrome and Firefox: https://imgur.com/a/c4FwJIx (and I'm sure there is a reason for this and I may be not the only person using this feature).
Also I guess it is still working in the stable version of Vivaldi (can't check this ATM).
