Super very first

@stardepp: Super very welcome

I still have the issue that only 7 days of browsing history are saved no matter what I set. This started on a macOS install and the bug was retained on a completely fresh install on Linux, apparently through Vivaldi sync. Donโt know how to potentially fix it other than completely deleting my profile and deleting everything that is on the sync server.

I have set my history to 1 day.
Settings > PRIVACY > Save Browsing History: One Day
and forbid some sites to enter the history at all (especially search engines) by using a self written extension that takes care of it, just in case I forget to delete the history -
Session only:
and where is the Never option?
-
@Stardust Private window?
-
@luetage well that's an option, but why should I use Private window all the time?
-
@Stardust Hmm, because you can feel like a spy and drink Vodka Martini all day?
-
@luetage right! I have to go now!
-
@Stardust Pierce Brosnanโฆ thatโs fitting, heโs the Private Window equivalent of Bond actors ^^

I don't think anybody who actually uses Vivaldi's history search would praise it... It has been near useless for a few versions now due to this bug. I reluctantly made peace with the fact that history search in Vivaldi takes at least 10 seconds with 100% CPU usage with my large history (it was instant in Firefox with the exact same history), but now the search results are unusable even after I endure the 10-second freezes...

In my opinion, the 2 problems with "Delete browsing history in Vivaldi" are :
- When you use the Session only option in the Settings, it will correctly purge the history but it will NOT purge the closed tab list. I suppose it's the same for the other options.
- The first problem would be minimal except for this second one : The Clear browsing data tool can only purge the closed tab list with a 50% success rate (rough estimation).
The Private window is not a relevant solution. One could want to beneficiate from all the history and closed tab options inside a specific session AND not want his data to migrate to another one when opening the browser again (that is the way I use Vivaldi).

@varsha Thank you for this informative insight in this Vivaldi feature.
I must admit that I didn't open history in tab before.
It is your article that invited me to do so.Phenomenal! I love Vivaldi even more because of it's richness and more!!

Hi, you can choose:
Open history Ctrl+H and use the brush icon.
Ctrl+Alt+Del open the clean menu, too.Cheers, mib
