second crazy super first
-
I am very pleased that Vivaldi Android can now scan QR codes. So now I just uninstalled my QR code app.
-
When will it be possible to swap icons in places? And the tiles are still small, as if they were made for old Nokia phones.
-
What's the criteria for triggering a thumbnail instead of just a site name?
So far, I've only been able to get thumbnails for this forum and a BBC weather report... but not for another four or five pages, including BBC news.
-
I'm missing Translator in this browser.
-
@Gurmeetim Long press on the Vivaldi Snapshot App icon:
Top right under the Vivaldi icon:
-
Whenever I scan a QR code through the address field shortcut, it opens the page in a new tab, even when I am on speed dial
-
Anyone else notice that the identical-looking QR sharing button in the address bar only creates codes on desktop and only receives codes in mobile...?
What if I want to quickly share a page from my phone to my wife's phone?
-
@Pyrlandia7 yes all chromium forks removed translation function. It's sad. Only Chrome and microsoft edge support translation
-
@stardepp Simply tapping the address field is enough, then the QR‐icon is being made visible.

But this does not work for me.

Congrats. First release of 2021. Now, the only feature which is holding me back is video background play. Brave does this natively and firefox with add-on.
-
Hopefully the double-tap back button to exit feature can be disabled if it's not wanted?
-
@Maria As someone who specifically requested this feature, I am THRILLED that Vivaldi has implemented it on the Android browser! Now, I can add the Vivaldi search widget to my phone's homescreen and have the exact same QR scan feature as I used to with Opera Touch. Not only can I say a last goodbye to Opera anything, but you have shown me that Vivaldi really listens to its users.
Thank you and Happy New Year. Vivaldi and you have tangoed your way into my heart!

@pyrlandia7: One option is to install Google Translate onto your device. This adds a Sharing option that I use all the time. Open a page you want to translate, click the "V" at the top, and share it to Google Translate. Gets the job done.
-
It would be nice if the QR code scanner would also handle non-URL QR codes (perhaps open a new tab and input that text into the address field). The existing QR code scanner on my phone can handle them, which is useful for transferring large chunks of text from my laptop to my phone (e.g. if there is something that I want to input into a phone app which is much easier to type on a normal-sized keyboard).

Speed Dial list view: I see thumbnails instead of the favicons. Not sure if I like this.
Option maybe - thumbnails/favicons?
-
@stardust: This is a temporary bug. We're working on the medium size as well, and the intention is that List View will use favicons.
-
@mossman: Thumbnails should currently be added when visiting a speed dialed site, or when adding a new speed dial from the main menu.
