Bug with Hot Keys and Full screen view
-
I've just started using Vivaldi. Main reason - horizontal tabs. Thanks! This will be one topic where I will report couple bugs and suggest some ideas. 1) Here is how I like my browser: Here is what I would like to change, but currently can't: 2) Bookmarks bar has some weird behaviour for me. For example right now I can't make it appear by using any methods available. 3) Bookmarks bar <> Speed dial. User should be able to choose the folder which is used for bookmarks bar just like he can choose which folder to use for speed dial. 4) I have a wonderful bug. When I use Ctrl+Shift+B shortcut browser no longer react to any shortcuts available. Browser continues to work. 5) The greatest thing is that Ctrl+Shift+B issue breaks my full screen mode. Good full screen mode: Full screen mode after I press Ctrl+Shift+B: And it is PERFECT. I don't use full screen very much since I don't have controls over browsing and you have to switch back to normal mode in order to change website or search for something I would strongly suggest to give us an ability to have this mode between normal and full screen, just like I have on the 2nd screen with bugged Full Screen Mode. I would spend 100% of time using my browser this way since I can concentrate 100% on what I'm doing online. 6) When I played with Vivaldi settings and got to the screen#1 view I understood that this is the browser I want to use on a daily basis. Given that I have to work with web analytics I usually have 2 browsers setup: 1 for work. with lots of extensions I need for making my $, and one for my personal browsing. So I thought "Great, Vivaldi will become my personal browser and I will continue to use Chrome as my primary work browser". WRONG!!! After that I figured out about my wonderful semi-full-screen-mode and here is another idea I would like to suggest: Give us an ability to save different configs for browser which can be easily switched with Shortcuts. The closest analogy I have is an old school game called Quake 3, which gave this ability to apply settings you need by only one command in the console. Also from Q3 you can take an ability to APPLY YOUR OWN SHORTCUTS for actions. P.S. in a horizontal mode for tabs it would be great to have some button to click and minimize it to only square icons to further minimize the interface P.S.S. I think I'm 2 versions behind everyone:

No, you're about six versions behind. You can get the latest here: https://vivaldi.net/blogs/teamblog which has new features and fixes, but also a couple of important new bugs - like you can't fetch or renew speed dial thumbnails until the team builds a new procedure for this which is compatible with Chromium 45 (which broke several functions of Vivaldi when it was introduced) and for the moment, you can't stack pinned tabs.

Idk if it's just on my end, but it seems that your screenshots are no longer in your post.Edit: It was just on my end. After posting this, all the screenshots were visible. I had tried refreshing the page before posting, so I don't know what was happening there. Still, the rest of this is relevant as I see you used external hosting for your screenshots. You can add attachments to posts like this:
Anyway, back to the topic:
Here is what I would like to change, but currently can't:
[snip]
I would strongly suggest to give us an ability to have this mode between normal and full screen, just like I have on the 2nd screen with bugged Full Screen Mode. I would spend 100% of time using my browser this way since I can concentrate 100% on what I'm doing online.
In fullscreen mode, you can control your browsing via the Quick Commands menu (default hotkey is F2).
In more recent versions, there's a setting that allows you to toggle the UI, which you can get to via the settings menu > Show UI
I believe the default shortcut for this is ctrl + F11It's not "true no UI mode," though, as the menu bar is still displayed. I assume this is so that you can still drag the window around the screen should you need to do that. Personally, I use the native window decorations, so I don't really need that there - and even if I didn't use the native window frame, I would rather toggle the UI via shortcut again if I needed to move the window. Imho, having the menu bar remain displayed in no UI mode defeats the point of toggling the UI, which is why I use some custom CSS to remove that bar in the event I use no UI mode.
#browser:not(.tabs-top) #header { display: none !important; }
If you don't know where to apply this style, see this spoiler:
!
- Open directory %localappdata%\Vivaldi\Application\1.0.249.12\resources\vivaldi\style\
- Open "common.css"
- At the very top of the file, add:```
@import "custom.css";
5) Paste this code into the file: >! ``` #browser:not(.tabs-top) #header { display: none !important; } >! ``` Vivaldi will need to be restarted after changes are made to these files. Attachments: ![](https://forum.vivaldi.net/uploads/attachments/16277/Screenshotfrom2015-09-1819:08:40.png)

Cool guys. I will update to the latest version and try some customizations per Tiamarth's post.
What about my other suggestions? If I understand correctly you are trying to build customizable browser.
-
I pointed out couple UI elements which currently can't be removed or customized. Any heads up on if these will become customizable in the future?
-
Per what I described I would make fullscreen mode just another option in the settings.
-
I'd like to hear from someone who is close to development if configs is something that is feasible to make. I'm sure that there are a lot of people out there who use browsers for different tasks and they need this feature. This couplb be a huge point on why I should migrate to Vivaldi. If there are any technical problems, just post here and let know everybody that this is too difficult etc.
Finally. How it can work:
-
I would remove full screen mode altogether and replace it with "configs"
-
On f11 I would put the switch button for different configs be it 1,2,3 or 5-10 .These should work just like Alt+Tab feature in windows.
-
User will be able to create those configs out of settings he likes. As an option I would add "above all windows/fit into the screen" so that when checked it will override windows taskbar and start working as currently Fullscreen mode works.
Is anyone else interested in such functions? Just post in this thread. I'm not sure if the community is active, but if you think you might use those configs, please support. I really want these and I really want Vivaldi to become my next browser to go.
Thanks a lot!
