Feature Wish
-
My apologies if I oversaw a feature wish thread, so I started one. Many of us speak non English languages as first language, and comment in several languages in short time. It is annoying to constantly switch the spell correction dictionary. So, it would be a great asset to select more than one language.
-
How might that work in practice? Some kind of dictionary switching seems to be required to avoid confusion (eg: color, colour, colore are all legitimate in various languages or dialects for the same misspelled word collor).
-
That's my dream since years
A quick shortcut to switch the dictionary would be welcome.
But a multi-language dictionary like happens on Sonyericsson android keyboards wold be even better.
-
If the page hinted at preferred language the browser could switch automatically, though switching between dialects might not be worthwhile (while it may seem strange, most US residents can probably understand British English and vice versa). Pages that accept any language - or replying to people who posted in the wrong section - would require the ability to manually choose language, but most people would probably ignore it.

It can be done with language Autodetect. No one needs both US and UK English. What people need is to check the spelling when writing in a foreign language while their default language is set to their mother tongue.
Es kann mit automatischer Erkennung der Sprache sein. Niemand braucht die Vereinigten Staaten und Englisch (Großbritannien). Wer ist notwendig, die Rechtschreibung zu überprüfen, beim Schreiben in einer Fremdsprache, während die Standardsprache in ihrer Muttersprache.

Then they won't have to manually select the appropriate dictionary.

Autodetect means sending data to Google. Which means, I will disable that feature.
I would rather have a spell checking language setting per website (like e.g. for JavaScript)
