First website I visited - Salesforce.com (via corporate sso) crashed twice
-
Hey all, I'm a total noob with Vivaldi and the Mac so please bear with me if I'm posting this somehow incorrectly. I decided to give vivaldi a try today after reading a few reviews. The first website I visited after installing is my company's salesforce.com site, which is companyname.my.salesforce.com and when I click that it diverts me to my company's single sign-on page. (which is what happens in all the other browsers I use as well). I entered my credentials on the sso page, and it looked like it was starting to load SFDC, and then crashed - asking me to restart. I restarted - it did not remember my credentials, so I entered them again. Another crash/request to restart. This time I restarted and it went into SFDC just fine. I'd like to know that there is data from those crash/restart events going somewhere useful and, if it isn't, I'd like to help that process along. Also - any tips or ideas someone might have to help with this would be greatly appreciated.

For starters, are you using this latest (1.0.279.3) version?

I dowloaded it this morning - is there another place I should be getting it from?

Yeah. You're about seven versions behind. The noob public is offered the "most stable" Technical Preview on the home page, but that is not the best choice for everyone. Although snapshots sometimes have broken elements, they often (usually, I think) have better basic functionality and more features than the technical preview.
The current snapshot, available here -> https://vivaldi.net/blogs/teamblog is built on a more recent Chromium platform, has more features, and sounder basic functionality than the Tech Preview you have installed. It has a couple of glitches (can't build or refresh Speed Dial thumbnails tho speed dial works fine otherwise; can't stack pinned tabs or pin stacks; thumbnails for stacks are kind of borked), but I much prefer it over the TP.
So it's your choice, and if a newer snapshot is no better for you, you can always roll back, but if you want to know how Vivaldi is REALLY working, I would try the latest version.

Thanks - I appreciate this. I've gone through this process on Windows with products many times over the years - so I'll grab the latest. My noobishness is strictly related to being a mac user and vivaldi user. I'll report back if anything untoward happens again.
