Locked out of Vivaldi webmail (fixed now, but why?)
-
I'm posting this question to see if I can avoid a repeat occurrence of getting locked out of my Vivalid webmail account this morning.
Never had this issue before and having been using V webmail daily for a year or more.
BUT...I did something today which I haven't done before. I replied to a message which had a large list of recipients, maybe 40-50 people. The group happens to be members of a local sports group (Pickleball) in my community.
Me hitting SEND on my message immediately triggered a a couple of UNDELIVERABLE notifications, but more importantly, and instantly, I was locked out and couldn't get back in.
Kudos to the support team who fixed things in a couple of hours and restored my access. I'm grateful.
But now I'm jittery about repeating the same steps and getting locked out again. Might it be that the contents of my message and the large number recipients happened to be interpreted as a violation of privacy policies and/or SPAM rules and prohibitions?
Is there anything I can or should do to guard against this sort of lockout happening again, but still be able to communicate with my local sporting friends as a group?
Appreciate any or all advice.

@bashley There are security measures against spamming, a large list of recipients will trigger a lock of your account. I think you can't send a mail to more than 30 recipients, but it could be less than that. @jane.n and/or @Gaëlle will provide more relevant information on that matter.
If you want a mail to be sent to many recipients, it is necessary to cut the mailing with few recipients. -
@hlehyaric Really appreciate your reply informing me of the constraints on the number of recipients permitted for a single email. I kinda figured I had breached some sort policy, rule, or restriction which triggered my instant lockout.
I'll have to find some kind of workaround solution because I don't really want to exclude anyone if I can avoid it.
Thanks,

@hlehyaric Yeah, it sorta looks I may have to split the long list, but may consider opting to use different email account for this particular purpose of sending a group email.

As a free service we've had to deal with a fair amount of spam. In order to tackle the spam issue, we've enforced various limits to the use of our services, particularly webmail, and they've proven to help. Some might find the limits too strict, but we believe we have landed on a configuration that works for us and our users. There will always be outliers, but as @bashley said in their first post, we deal with such cases promptly.
We thank you for your understanding. -
@jane-n Thank you for weighing on my post concerning webmail lockout. I am sensitive to the vulnerabilities and the necessary constraints entailed to supply a free service. My concern is minor, especially given that this was a singular occurrence over more than a year of daily Vivaldi webmail usage.
As it happens, one of the members of the large group of recipients I emailed (triggering the lockout) has advised me to direct my future emails to one or two of the group's individual leaders. Thus, it's doubtful I'll run into a repeat lockout experience in any case.
Let me repeat my sense of comfort and delight in the amazing responsiveness of Vivaldi support, fixing my issue in practically no time flat, along with the friendly, personal email follow-up. All in all, I'm actually glad for having gone through this minor glitch because it's built my confidence in Vivaldi and fortified my loyalty for the organization.
For all this, I'm grateful.
Thanks
